Doctor Who?

And how about that great scarf Bill had?  Almost Dr.Who?-like.  I bet he was hot under those stage lights though.

That scarf wasn't just Doctor Who like it was the exact same design as the scarf Tom Baker wore in season 17,it even looked like it was the full 18 feet long.  I want to know where Bill got it because i want one now.

Sounds like the Prairie Home Companion trailer might've cut out for everyone. What a profound shame.

Yeah it happened at our theater too and scared me because I was afraid we were going to have audio problems all night but we didn't.  Not a single glitch after that.

Doctor Who?

Does anyone know when the code for the free stuff expires?  I ask because i may  not be able to get to a computer that I can use untill Monday, will it still be good?

ShadowDog

It's not really a code, it's a website address.  So I assume they'll keep the page up for a little while.  A week, maybe?  But that's pure guesswork.

Without the distraction of his math-teacher-on-lithium voice, I had a good opportunity to reflect on just how much Garrison Keillor does look like Jack Elam from Girl In Lover's Lane. Creepy.

Who is Garrison Keller and what is Prairie Home Companion? For ours we had a trailer for an opera insted.

My joke was "did the sound cut out or did Garrison Keilor just put me to sleep again?"

It's a weekly radio show on NPR.  It's performed in front of a live audience but broadcast over the radio.  They're based out of the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota, but they do most of their shows on the road.  They do some really funny comedy sketches, and there's a lot of old timey folk/country/gospel music.

I find it interesting that they provided source and riff audio as separate files for the free short, which is something that they've been refusing to do with other shorts for some time now.  ???

Not complaining, it's just interesting...  ;)

It's a show that been on since 1974 that everyone claims that they don't listen to because it's boring.   ;)

Yup, another fun night!

One highlight that others probably didn't have: After the Rifftrax Trivia (fantastic, by the way), they went into the Fathom Events Previews. When the Prairie Home Companion preview came up the audio cut out --- and the crowd promptly applauded. When Garrison Keillor came back a few seconds later, there was an audible groan.

Same thing happened at my theater.  We had an audio failure just after he started talking.  Without even thinking, I said out loud "Hey, I like him better this way."  I think I got a few chuckles from that.

I said, "Wow; I guess he puts himelf to sleep."

I'm going to use this space to pass out some kudos:

Kudos for getting Weird Al to chip in, if only for one short.
Kudos for including those awesome vintage commercials. Some of my favorite moments from  the show were watching those unfortunately named toy commercials. (And the ding-a-ling spy camera was particularly unfortunate)
Kudos to whomever did the free wallpaper. Onto my computer screen it goes!
Kudos on remembering that hilariously nauseating old sketch you guys did to play at the end.
Kudos on new intro cards. We didn't get there soon enough to catch many of them, which was a shame. Any way you guys can put up a slideshow of all the live show cards?

Brought two newbies along with me, and they left almost as excited as Dick. Think I have a couple converts.

There was general agreement that good as the first show was, this was even better, largely due to the deletion of Veronica, Lowtax, and Jonathan (both very talented, I'm sure, but we ain't payin' $12 to see them.)   Most in my party agreed that the close sketch was amusing at the beginning, but went on far too long-- just show Kevin in the horrifying outfit and fade to black.  The vomiting cow was overmilked ; )

There was an energy dip during pork, aquatics, and the low self-esteem tree, but Rudolf brought down the house without anyone even hearing the riffs.  Excellent choices for the openings and close.

NRRork

That was great, went with a few friends. Not too many people at the Muskegon showing, 10 or 15. But it was still a lot of fun to watch it that way, especially since it was recorded in front of an audience and we got to hear THAT laughter as well. Also, for about the first half, I was high, which made it AMAZING. Of course, a movie theater concession stand and cannabis can lead to financial ruin! My Reese's Pieces and medium soda was like 7.50. Bastards.

And that Gaylord dog was AWESOME. Especially because it was for Kevin. I mean, normally it takes TIME for a pet to resemble its owner, but not Gaylord!
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?
