I'm afraid that most of the films I'd want riffed would consist mostly of Mike et. al. puking theatrically into a bucket.  Not just because they're bad movies, they're also obscenely disgusting.

*sigh*

I'm picturing a Riff of Salo...

#7) The Omen (the remake)

Why not  the original?  I mean, it's an okay movie but....

Quote#6) Godzilla (You know, the one with Matthew Broderick, lol)

I think any film with the words "Godzilla" or "Gamera" in the title should just be a given.

Quote#1) Flubber (Do we all remember that Robin Williams classic, lol)

But no jokes about Wil Wheaton....   Man, is he sensitive...!

BTW, what about the movie Rock n' Roll High School?

WHY WOULD YOU PICTURE THAT?!  WHY?  WHY?!?

Even though it's not the scariest film I've ever seen, Suspiria skeeves me out more than any other horror film just because it is way too colorful.  I can handle some gore, but not when it's brighter than a ten-year-old high school student.

Those wacky Italian filmmakers.

Plastic Self-Cleaning Duck

Ken Russell's The Devils, anyone?   ;)

Actually, there's probably a Ken Russell film out there somewhere to do - Tommy, perhaps?

Man, I loved Suspiria.  It is totally creepy, and features one of the most wince-inducing deaths I've ever seen.

One of the? Only one of them is wince inducing?

Suspiria is possibly the most Baletically (appropriate no?) horrific films ever

crap like don't even compete.

Well sure, but that particular scene had stayed with me.  Another reason I like it is that is features Jessica Harper, who I've totally lusted after since I saw her in The Garry Shandling Show.

The only thing more wince-inducing than Italian horror films are Japanese horror films, in my opinion.  Audition, anyone?

I rented that, and never watched it. Did I make the right choice?

Imagine a collaboration between Lucio Fulci and Takashi Miike

hmm I'd say so. It's beyond gross.

I'll steer clear of the obvious ones (Godzilla (1998), ID4, Batman & Robin, Alone in the Dark), I agree with most of those suggestions.  Here's a couple that might not have been mentioned as much:

Driven- This is my number one pick, it's perfect fodder:  Sly Stallone? check.  Horrible action director? check.  Silly special effects? check.  bad plot and melodrama? check.  Burt Reynolds?  oh yeah, check.

Varsity Blues- We haven't really been given a proper sports movie yet...I can't count arm-wrestling as a "sport" in Over The Top.  This movie goes for the MTV vibe of all style, no substance.  Bad acting, bad script, and a great little "whipped cream bikini" scene for Kevin to oogle over.

The following screen caption from Audition says it all, I think.  *ahem*

You're welcome.  ;)

It's great! And I'm not saying it as a fan of gross horror movies - I don't really like the "gorn" genre - but I think the movie manages to go beyond the limits of its genre (A Miike hallmark, I must say) and make about all kinds of stuff.  It's just a pity that it's been out there long enough now that people know what to expect.

Renny Harlin has, thus far, eluded his rightful Riffing. This may be as good a place as any to start.

A hazzard of the trade.  The only way anyone should expect a surprise anymore is if they see a movie during its opening weekend.
