8. Legend - filmed through more gauze than has ever been wrapped around wounds, Legend makes you wonder if your cataracts are acting up, or is that Tom Cruise looking rather fruity?

6. The Lord of the Rings (1978) – so how do you take a 1,000 page epic and boil it down to a 2 hour 12 minute animated feature? You don't, unless you're Ralph Bakshi. So dizzyingly paced that you'll soon confuse Gandalf for Mickey Mouse in Fantasia.

I was talking with one of my friends about some movies the other day when "Legend" came up.  We had both seen the movie at some time in the past mainly because we're fans of Tangerine Dream, and we were both laughing at how bad we thought it was.  Bad enough to be enjoyable, actually!  So I searched here, and sure enough there's already a few votes for a rifftrax to "Legend".  I'd love to have a rifftrax for this.  Add my vote to that list!

I also noticed the mention of the animated version of "Lord of the Rings".  I remember when that came out.  My sister and I are both big Tolkien fans, and were hoping for a LOT more than this film had to offer.  I'm rather surprised that it's available on DVD.  The review from Amazon mentions:

Bakshi's lamentable decision to combine traditional cel animation with "rotoscoped" (i.e., meticulously traced) live-action footage is jarringly distracting and aesthetically disastrous, but...

and that's the main thing I remember about it.  I'm not quite as eager to see this again, but if a rifftrax showed up for it then I'm sure I would buy it!  I was a bit surprised that people wanted a rifftrax for the Peter Jackson version, seeing that this version has sooooo much more to riff on!

I'd buy any of the below in an instant:

[...]
2.  Hudson Hawk  - see 1, but definitely more awful.
3.  Stargate

I actually like Hudson Hawk as a fun movie, even without any rifftrax. But I'd certainly pick up a rifftrax for it if one was done!

Stargate wouldn't be bad for a rifftrax, but (as I've already said in some other forum thread), I'd much rather see a rifftrax for "Star Crash"...

7 ) Enemy Mine
6 ) The Day After Tomorrow
5 ) The League of Extraordinary Men

Here's mine, after a tad bit of thought:

1 ) Jaws: The Revenge
2 ) Pokemon: The First Movie
3 ) High School Musical
4 ) Super Mario Bros.
5 ) Dune (David Lynch's, of course)
6 ) National Treasure
7 ) The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen
8 ) Signs
9 ) A Beautiful Mind
10 ) Critters

Could change after more consideration, but those top 5 are definitely just that.

2) Pokemon: The First Movie

Substitute the second movie in there and we can hear Weird Al over the end credits.  Might make it go down easier.

At least she looks like a woman, as a pposed to Lori Petty, who looks like a teenage boy.

Bite  your tongue, blasphemer! Defame not the name of Lori Petty.

Well, if Pokemon: The First Movie goes as well as I think it would, then the second one (isn't it "Pokemon: 2000" or something like that?) will be my number 11! 8)

8)   CIRCLE OF IRON -- think maybe David Carradine could be persuaded to guest riff? I think that would be cool.

You are my new best friend. This would be a great riff. Is it even available on DVD though?

Some other list in this forum thread suggested some other David Carradine movie, and that reminded me of this movie.  I haven't seen it in at least 20 years, so it took me awhile to figure out which movie was the one I remembered.  This movie from 1978 (sometimes called "The Silent Flute") was pretty bad at spots, although David Carradine himself was not too bad in it.  Certainly he was not bad compared to the main character of the movie!

Amazon has two versions of this DVD available.  A single-DVD version released in 2004, and a two-disc version released in May 2007 "with one and a half hours of newly-produced extras!", including a commentary from David Carradine.  I'd certainly go for this as a rifftrax.  It'd be a riot if they could get David Carradine to be a guest-riffer on it!  (but I doubt that will happen  ;D  I think he's a bit too laid-back to be good at riffing movies, even if he wanted to)

Carradine was the best part of the movie, hands down, and I enjoyed watching it, but I'll agree this has a lot of riffing potential.

Wonder how much different it might have been had Bruce Lee been able to finish it.
