Why the hell did we come up with this life draining idea? It's taking me forever to fill it out, especially with the restrictions I put on myself. I may have multiple lists

Ha ha!  Well it was your idea to do all this!  And I nicely put a countdown clock on the nominations page (linked in the first post) just to stress you out.

Are we picking just one film to send in for the whole decade, or do we send in the year by year list?

One per year like you posted, so you're good to go.

Ok, so I have a Top 10 movie list for every year this decade so this one's easy:

2000:  Memento (IMDb lists this as 2000 so that's what I'm going with)
2001:  LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring
2002:  Bowling For Columbine
2003:  Lost In Translation (allowing a tie, I would say "LOTR: Return of the King" too)
2004:  Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
2005:  Sin City Lord of War
2006:  Thank You For Smoking
2007:  Juno
2008:  Wall*E

My candidates for 2009 are "Star Trek", "I Love You, Man", "The Hurt Locker", "District 9" and "Funny People".  I still haven't seen "Zombieland" nor "Up In the Air" (every film Jason Reitman has directed became my fave of the year [and I saw TYFS before Juno], yet I'm not that thrilled by the previews for this one).  Right now, I'd like to say "I Love You, Man", but for prestige's sake I'll go with... "Star Trek".

And, for fun, I'll say "Memento" is my Movie of the Decade.

The Albums of the Decade was way easier considering I don't listen to much music (there are only 35 albums from the decade that I like).  For anyone else needing ideas, I've included my runner-ups (i.e. the other 25) underneath:

2000:  Radiohead - "Kid A"
Rage Against the Machine - "Renegades"

2001:  Incubus - "Morning View"

2002:  Audioslave - "Audioslave"
Red Hot Chili Peppers - "By the Way"
Damien Rice - "O"
Broken Social Scene: "You Forgot It In People"
Sigur Ros - "( )"

2003:  The Radio Dept. - "Lesser Matters"
"Lost In Translation" soundtrack
The Strokes - "Room On Fire"
The Postal Service - "Give Up"
The White Stripes - "Elephant"
Weird Al - "Poodle Hat"

2004:  The Killers - "Hot Fuss"
"Garden State" soundtrack
Incubus - "A Crow Left of the Murder"

2005:  Death Cab For Cutie - "Plans"
Sufjan Stevens - "Illinoise"
The Fray - "How To Save A Life"
The White Stripes - "Get Behind Me Satan"

2006:  Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Stadium Arcadium"
The Radio Dept. - "Pet Grief"
Audioslave - "Revelations"
"The Fountain" soundrack
"Marie Antoinette" soundtrack
The Appleseed Cast - "Peregrine"
Weird Al - "Straight Outta Lynwood"

2007:  Radiohead - "In Rainbows"
Daft Punk - "Alive 2007"
Pogo - "Wonderland"
Sigur Ros - "Heima"

2008:  Sia - "Some People Have Real Problems"
A.R. Rahman - "Slumdog Millionaire" soundtrack

2009:  Company of Thieves - "Ordinary Riches"

I can't decide on an Album of the Decade.  If only Incubus' "Make Yourself" came out just one year later.

I think I was the one who picked Lord of War :P

Although I do need to make a change, 2004 is now Shaun of the Dead. For reasons unknown I totally forgot that was released that year.

B'OH!!  Mea culpa.  When I saw your furry, my brain must've jumped to Ronin instead of Relaxing... and... I'm gonna go change my post.

No worries. And Memento is a good choice, I actually forgot it came out that year (for whatever reason my brain was saying 1999). Though that's one of my favorite movies, my gut's still telling me to go with American Psycho...

You're right to be confused about "Memento"... but kinda the wrong direction.  A lot of places will categorize it as a 2001 film (and I actually categorize it that way in my mind).  The Academy decided to bend their rules and make a (very rare) exception to allow it to be nominated for the 2002 awards ceremony.  Good thing too.  For it to not got nominated for editing and writing would be a travesty considering how close to perfect it comes in those respects.

Seems fitting, all things considered :)

HA!  I made a joke and didn't even know it!  I must be funny.

I was thinking that maybe you should post a separate thread for the albums in the music section of the forum.  You might get more people to chime in over there.

Thought about it, but we're not sure if we're going to go through with the music side just yet.  Maybe tackle it after we finish the movies one depending on how it goes.
