Ok, we here in OneWallCinema are working on a little something for the end of the year and are working on our Movies & Albums of the decade.  But to make things more complicated we're going to break it down year by year.

But we want to hear what other people think too and include them in our nominations and let popular vote (among friends, family, forum members, Facebook friends, Twitter, etc. and maybe the crazy homeless guy in the alley down the street) and see what happens.

So let's hear it.  What was your favorite movie (and if you're feeling ambitious, favorite album) release for each year from 2000 through 2009.  Movie-wise I suppose you can go with theater release date when picking the year it belongs to.

IMDB has listings of movies by year if you're having trouble remembering what came out each year.  (Although there's a TON listed just to warn you.)

We'll do our best to keep updating the list in this initial post as things are nominated.

We may have some prizes or something once this is all finished as well.  (Still working on that part.  Not sure though since I'm currently "available for employment")

Please send your picks to movies@onewallcinema.com along with your real name & forum name so we can keep track of things.

Yeah there's some years that had a ton of movies I liked and others I struggled to find even one that felt worthy of a movie of the year.

The album half of this is probably gonna be all over the place.  I was able to make my list with some help from Wikipedia so I have edited my original post with my album choices.

Oh yes, I love movie lists.  I've already made this list earlier in the year with some friends.  The music part will take some work though:

2002: Signs
2003: Open Range
2004: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
2005: Brick
2006: Children of Men
2007: The Savages
2008: Cloverfield (this one was really tough choice, it's a toss up between this and Smart People, which I also absolutely adore.)
2009: to be determined

MUSIC: (will update)
2000:
2001:
2002:
2003:

I'm having trouble with my picks for 2009.  I think I've only seen 4 movies that came out this year so far.  (2 of them being GI Joe & TF2... And they kinda were all sorts of not so good.)

Michael Knott - Live At Cornerstone 2000

Are we picking just one film to send in for the whole decade, or do we send in the year by year list?

Anyway, here's my list (since I know nothing about music, I'm not touching that one):

2000: American Psycho
2001: Black Hawk Down
2002: Gangs of New York
2003: Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
2004: Shaun of the Dead
2005: Lord of War
2006: Children of Men (if we have to pick one movie, this is my choice)
2007: Grindhouse
2008: Let The Right One In
2009: District 9 (probably. There's still time for something else, though)

Was definitely a hard list to make. And I suddenly noticed there's no Pixar on it. For shame.
