... it's all about grosses.
So, you're saying that Twilight: New Moon is a brilliant film....if it's really just about how many people see something?
No, that's clearly not what he's saying.  It was he thinks The Spirit was worse than TF2 but less people know about The Spirit since high profit = people saw it.
Okay....so how is not putting down something you didn't see "hypocritical"?
It is hypocritical, I think he's making 2 points.  The first saying that people dump on TF2 a lot just because it's Bay (which I'd agree with) then quantifies that by saying it's also probably due to very few people having seen The Spirit.
It's almost like you didn't read it properly because you wanted to re-state the same point about box office you always make  ;D
You wouldn't know hypocrisy if it bit you in the ass.
If you think that it makes your last question a little silly doesn't it?  ;D
Are you all through putting words in my mouth now? What I meant is that the more a "crappy" movie makes dollar-wise, the more of a trashing it tends to get from us all on the board(myself included). I haven't seen many people bash "The Spirit", which is one of the worst movies that I have seen in the theater. It was so unbelievably bad I couldn't stop watching. There's something really insidious about a movie that is so bad you HAVE to keep watching, and in my opinion, that makes it worth bashing the hell out of, even more than TF2.

By all accounts, his latest one Rampage is actually pretty decent.

For some odd reason you've got me thinking of the video game of the same name. Now that would be an interestingly bad concept for a movie: An action comedy about three people mutated into huge Godzilla-like Lizard, Ape and Wolf type monsters rampaging across the world destroying cities, inadvertently exposing the corporation they worked for as an evil, alien controlled conglomerate.

Found this video just typing in Rampage the Movie into Youtube's search engine.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

How %#$@ing twisted of a world do we live in that I can't put Michael Bay's Transformers movies on this list, because so many people #&$^%!@ like them?!
I still say, just because all of those people went to see it, it doesn't mean they all enjoyed it.
But a LOT of people bought it on DVD later. And then went to see the sequel in droves. So, yeah,  a lot of people like it.

There are at least 4 fans of it that I can think of right here on this board.

For the record, Pak and I enjoyed the movie because it was so stupid. We liked G.I. Joe for the same reason. We're under no illusions that either of these movies are any semblance of good by any stretch.  :P

I wasn't judging or mocking. I was just saying that it can hardly be considered something nobody likes if in this small cross-section of society alone there are fans.

Truth. As hard as it is to believe, there are folks out there who think Uwe Boll is a genius and his movies are masterpieces.

Thrifty

I know of six such movies that were so disliked that all copies of them have been wiped from existence.

Leonard Part One
Buckaroo Banzai Against the World Crime League
Leonard Part Two
Leonard Part Three
History of the World Part Two
Leonard Part Four

Okay.... I attempted watching this movie a while back. I made it halfway through (I have a pretty strong constitution for bad movies!),  but this one defeated me. This is by far the worst thing I have ever tried to watch. Incomprehensible... random noises... indistinguishable dialogue. Trust me... I don't think drugs could even get me through this thing. Its just random hand puppets chewing on hamburger meat.

Action Maximus

Believe it or not but I could sit through that movie. There's just something about the bad acting and hideously laughable character designs that make me laugh. It's like an episode of the original Doctor Who gone horribly wrong.

I could only get past the first 20 minutes of The Spirit and then I gave up.  While it is just as bad as Transformers i think you and I were the only people who saw it so I can understand why it is isn't talked about.  It's hard to make jokes about a movie you haven't seen.

I really wish we could add the animated Lord of the Rings to the list, but we know that has at least one huge fan.

Oh trust me, The Spirit was much, much worse. Any movie that puts Sam Jackson and Scarlet Johanssen in NAZI uniforms is one of the worst movies ever.

I wouldn't go so far as to call The Spirit as bad as TF2 (I actually quite liked Samuel Jackson in it). It's pretty bad, bland, and campy to the extreme, but I don't think it's as abysmal as Bay's monstrosity.

Why is everybody so pretentious about TF 2? It's like everyone was expecting something deeply philosophical and thought-provoking. If you expected anything remotely of the sort, <insert snide, possibly rude insult here>. I heard all the negative remarks about it and frankly I wasn't able to see it until it came out on DVD. Seriously, it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be! I think it's even better than the first. This makes me curious, because it makes me think most people have nothing better to do than to be pretentious farts. All you guys, get a life, won't you? How are you going to hold down your jobs at McDonald's when all you do is go on the Rifftrax forum all day and go "wah wah wah, Transformers 2 was a piece of shit, wah wah wah!!!", "Wah wah wah! Michael Bay is a stupid pussy! Wah wah wah"? I'm not saying you're not entitled to your opinion, but to be fair I don't vent my opinion if any of you happen to like movies that I hate(and if you ask me to shut up about any particular movie, I would be more than happy to do so) I also have never bolstered this movie to be any more than it really is. I never said it was a good movie, a  great movie or even a mediocre one. I liked it, that's all. At the very least I don't go at it all day, ad nauseam.

ScottotD

It seems a very vocal minority on here revel in their own bile.

At least Transformers 2 has been made and they've (presumably) seen it which makes the ranting less laughable, just as pointless though.
