While seeing the Rifftrax crew live is certainly a majority of why a person buys tickets, part of the allure of any event of this type is what movie is being riffed. Plan 9 is certainly well known, so this great live performance may be a hard act to follow, if the movie selection isn't quite right. What are your suggestions for the next live Rifftrax Live movie event?

Mine would be probably be Missile to the Moon.  :)

Listen Murdock, I'm sick and tired of your dead lobster...

Either Reefer Madness (my prediction) or Night of the Living Dead. Both already have cult followings.

The Phantom Menace.

That'll get folks in the seats.

Troll 2 would be nice.

And good God I hope that if they can pull off another one, that they don't waste the effort on doing their Phantom Menace riff.  It might draw people to the seats, but if that utter failure of a riff was their first exposure to Rifftrax, it wouldn't do the business any good at all.

I would imagine a three-riffer Phantom Menace would be significantly reworked...probably more jokes and less anger-without-a-punchline.

I wouldn't worry. I'm guessing that the exhibition fee for Phantom Menace would be rather pricey for them.

BeautifulMind

Yeah I'm guessing there won't be any newer movies in Rifftrax Live efforts. I don't know the legalities of using the newer material but I'm sure they wouldn't be able to get away with releasing a DVD of any live riffs if that's in the plan.

I think I would just die of joy if they did The Room.

But also, I kinda think The Room is the kinda movie that has to be watched unriffed to really appreciate.

ShadowDog

That'd be great if they did The Room because no way in HELL I'm ever buying that DVD.  LMFAO

"Troll 2" or "The Room"... indeed.  Although as far as getting the good name of RiffTrax out to the public, I doubt "The Room" has a shot.  I mean all the graphic language/sex scenes... it's quite uncommon for a RiffTrax feature, yknow?  I'd be the first one in my state to buy a ticket for it though.

As for Legend Films titles, well, I've only seen "Plan 9" and "Reefer Madness".  I hear "Little Shop of Horrors" is the worst of the bunch.  Is "Swing Parade" a short?  That would be interesting to see a Three Stooges short riffed before the feature.  My guess is they'll go with "Reefer Madness" or "Night of the Living Dead", yknow, just something very recognizable.

Thrifty

Yeah, maybe The Room could have deleterious effects on Rifftrax's reputation.

Swing Parade was a full length movie with the Stooges as comic relief supporting characters.  It's not a comedy, it's a musical.

Night of the Living Dead and Carnival of Souls are, I think, respected horror movies, and a riff might not go over well with the general public and casual fan.  Reefer Madness or Missile to the Moon would be good choices.  Still, nothing they pick will have the notoriety of Plan 9 going for it.

They need to personally beg at the feet of George Lucas to do a series of live shows riffing The Star Wars Holiday Special. This is the million-dollar box office draw.

Failing that, partnering with Lucasfilm for the other films could be fun and moneyable. See Robot Chicken/Family Guy for precedent.
