Depends on how they handle it.  If the ending thing is real, it could be something for the video release.

Okay. Seriously. What changed between April 21st and May 16th?

I know, right? And of all the characters for Godzilla to look at, why him? Even the audience doesn't give a shit about Ford.

Also,

I think it's more like when you trip in front of your couch, and as you get back up, movement catches your eye, and you look at it for a second. "Oh, there's a bug," you think, and then continue getting up and going about your day (or maybe you squish it. I'm not you.) But that's sort of how the moment felt to me the four times I watched it in the theater. :)

Very much this. Also that shot might actually be my favorite in the movie (sort of a tie between that and the shot of Godzilla swimming between the navy). Damn fine shot.

Amazon is out of the DVD til the 19th.

Legendary could have a bonafide blockbuster on their hands with the sequel if they play their cards right. No more hiding Godzilla - just make it more of a straight up monster flick with Edwards' ability to bring in creative POV shots during the battle scenes.

YES! Exactly. Once you've revealed the monster in full, it's a bad idea (and dramatically useless) to put it back in the shadows. Aliens knew this. Predator 2 knew this (although I seem to be the only one that actually likes that movie better than the first one).

Here's all of the scenes where we actually get to see Godzilla

While I certainly would have liked more, I don't necessarily mind having less Godzilla footage since what we did get was really really good. It's really the fact that we get so much time with the humans that is less interesting, where it becomes a bigger deal. There is no reason we couldn't have cut out at least 20 minutes of that out.

Watching this scenes again reminds me of something I noticed when watching it back then...does it seem like Godzilla's atomic breath isn't very effective? Don't get me wrong, the buildup to it is BRILLIANT! The music, his tail starting to light up from the tip, everything. But then the beam just kinda knocks the MUTO over into the building, without a lot of noticeable physical damage to it. The look of the breath is a little watery from the strong light beam we are used to, as well.

Also, with the next one having King Ghidorah, and *sigh* Mothra  ::) hopefully they will be colored monsters. So it isn't just a grey Godzilla, fighting grey monsters, at night, next to grey buildings, with a lot of grey smoke everywhere.

My 3D bluray showed up yesterday.

Well then, my Friday night is planned
