Well went to my first Star Trek convention and during the "Gala" somthing happened. Now maybe it was because I was traped in a crowd watching Tuvock sing the blues or was it when some chick that is suppost to be Sulu's daughter started singing folksongs writen and I quote by a "Progressive Bay Artist" or was it when Brent Spiner started sing jazz. My inner Riffer exploded so much so I even got dirty looks from a Spiner girl.

Cool.  Whenever the mood strikes, let er rip.  Especially when it's Star Trek actors singing.  I love Star Trek but seeing those guys singing jazz would set me off too.

Eh.  If you're riffing someone who is doing their live act, then no matter how good-or-bad that act is:  you're just a heckler, not a riffer

Every heckler thinks they're hilariously funny too (or at least more entertaining than whoever is on the stage).  But all too often they're just rude and obnoxious.  Don't fall into that trap.
