Has anyone watched the trailer for this movie out of curiosity's sake? Here's the link via IMDB.com:

http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi2422342681/

It looks to me like the entire movie is going to be Edward and Jacob bouncing Bella back and forth trying to persuade her they're the one for her with scenes of Bruce Dallas Howard in a bad, curly, auburn wig.
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

Tyrant

I just played trailers for all 3 Twilights back to back out of morbid curiosity and they all look like they came out of the exact same movie. Just lots of closeups of Bella, Jacob and Edward in some kind of emo distress, shirtless scenes of Jacob and vampires jumping around a lot. Normally I hate it when a book/series of books gets condensed in the transition to screen (they usually leave awesome bits out), but this is a situation where these 3 books really needed to just be one movie. Especially since the first Twilight had virtually nothing happening in it at all plotwise.

Just watched the trailer... Jeebus.

Is this really directed by the same guy who made Hard Candy and 30 Days of Night? How the hell do you go from a tense thriller where feral vampires slaughter hundreds of people and a guy goes crazy with a chainsaw attached to a tractor... to THIS?!!

The dialogue is just dreadful, as if it's been copied from an outdated old Harlequin romance. "I'll fight for you until your heart stops beating?"
"I promise to love you every moment, forever"? That's not even proper frigging grammar!

And Dakota Fanning looks more like a strung-out drug addict than a supposedly 'beautiful' vampire.

And yet I'm still looking forward to it, in a sick strange way. If it's as half as mysogenistic and dumb as the last movie, the backlash will be beautiful to witness.

"If"?   ;)

I heard they locked the Director out of the editing room. I'm not sure that means he suddenly came to his senses and tried to make the movie have some interesting stuff in it (which naturally the producers couldn't allow), or if he actually made the movie so poorly that it's below even the usual Twilight movive standards, and they have to try and salvage it without him.

Or maybe I just misheard, and he's still doing fine.

It probably just meant the producers were being controlling assholes who think they can make movies.

Well, I haven't read any of the books, but judging from the comments made by people who have, I'm curious to see if they even attempt to adapt breaking Dawn into movie form.

They will, and it will be in two parts.  ::shakes fist at the gods of movie info that has bestowed this knowledge upon me::

I figured somebody had to post this.  It's The Biggest, Most Emotional Twilight Fan EVAR reacting to the new trailer.

Now, before you go berating her, David Chen has a great article about this at Slashfilm where he equates this same joy as the same kind of joy that got him into movies and what a stark contrast her excitement is to his own current diluted state.  He also covers her (infamous) reactions from trailers before (videos embedded).  Now personally speaking, I don't see the difference between her reaction to the trailer as any different as a roomful of (mostly) guys at Comic-Con whooping and hollering at the Wolverine movie trailer.  Different material, different hormones, but both rooted deeply in fandom; and neither without their major flaws.  Sure, Twilight fangirls are annoying/creepy.  But I would be amiss to not see the same geekiness in myself.

Well said Mr. Simpson, as much as people like to get on their high-horses and wish for the end of something that a) is largely not targeted at them b) will continue to be popular no matter how much snooty eye-rolling they do.  Twilight is NO different from any niche bit of fandom anyone has, I assure everyone that there are people in the world that think a movie, book or TV show you hold dear to your heart is stupid and would think think less of you for liking it (if they actually knew you).

This is why I wonder I feel so unique for having no opinion on the phenomenon at all, I realised pretty quickly it wasn't my bag so I pay very little attention to it.  Much as I do/did with Vin Diesel's popularity, Sex and the City, Wes Anderson, Kath and Kim, etc, etc

I find the most ridiculous part of the trailer to be Bella's melodramatic line:
"Edward, she found us."
Um, well yeah, you haven't gone anywhere.  You're in the exact same place.

Sideswipe

a little off topic here, but has anyone seen the disturbing New Moon commercial for Wal Mart.  It looks like a mom and 2 daughters are watching the movie and a mopey looking teen daughter is staring googley eyed at the screen and mouths the words, "I love you." along with the movie.  Creepy.  And the way the dialogue was delivered, emotionless.  Like how you would expect a teenage Vulcan to say it.

I was bieng threated with death by wolf raping before it was cool!.

I've never had a reaction like this to any trailer in my entire life, and I'm the emotional type. This sort of overreaction completely puts me on edge and nervous because it's too loud and too boisterous. I will talk excitiedly about a movie I am keen on seeing, but I don't jump around and scream for something I like. Male or female I find this overexaggerated behavior to anything of interest disturbing. I wonder if the person needs Ritalin.

Even a marriage proposal?

::pumps fist:: If there's one thing I can expect from a woman, it's the earth-shattering emotional outburst and tremblings of being proposed to.  But i know you're referring to like a hobby.  But this is a (very hormonal) teen here.  Actually, that's pretty redundant to say.  I was watching "Knocked Up" last night, and Paul Rudd had this great line:  "I wish I loved anything as much as my kids love bubbles."  I think that speaks volumes.  Besides, any Comic-Con attendant can relate to her situation.  Don't go to Comic-Con if you don't want to see thousands of boys and girls like her.
