I think imdb can help us, it's just that it seems slightly unreliable in certain areas.  Genre is something I wouldn't rely on it to characterize, for example.

when nestor was released there was a dispute over animation stop motion and claymation

People were debating "stop motion" vs "claymation," but I think either would still be animation, right?

I wouldn't consider stopmotion animation
Ninjas don't kill people, Pat Morita playing a ninja kills people.

could we at least have a release date please

In a week would be a fair guess, in time for us to miss the Rifftrax Live event, lol.

How about the Secret Life of Walter Mitty?  It's on DVD, in color, starts with S, didn't win any awards, from 1947

You're animating an inanimate figure. It's debatable. I suppose the question should be "Is the movie live action with genuine humans?"

RaoulDuke

my idea of animated would have to be drawings not actual models
i wouldn't call harryhausen an animator

I asked if it was based on a book, and they said no.

But that was based on a short story... So would the answer about it not being based on a novel count? We have to be really anal about wording our questions.

EDIT: And interpreting our answers.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty  = Drama

Still not possbile because they said it wasn't a drama.
Anytime someone offers you 10,000 to 1 odds, you take it.

Yeah, I thought of that too late. I should have said book rather than novel, since The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty is a short story. Oops.

Are they using IMDb for that? Because I wouldn't really call it a drama myself.

Genre is definitely something that we CAN use imdb for, because that is what they use to give us the answer.  Thay said so in a previous 20Q.

I meant in the imdb list search function.  For some reason, some of the films don't show up.  It happened in the game of Practice Questions the other day.  I picked a western, but when I searched for westerns through the list search function, it didn't show up.

RaoulDuke

are those three films the only ones that it could be or could there be any more?
Ninjas don't kill people, Pat Morita playing a ninja kills people.

BEERxTaco

Well, I wouldn't run out and buy those three based on IMDB's search function, lol...
