See, in my mind, I thought Land of the Dead was just George Romero's final attempt to do every insanely gory thing he couldn't do before the current era of special effects...

That was about the whole point that I could see...

Again, I like Zombie movies normally, but that was rough...

I thought the best zombie effect in that one was ..

But for surprise value I quite enjoyed Shaun, where the guy is being pulled out the window by the zombie mob. THAT was nice.

...that was pretty stupid beyond reason...

WTF? That was the best in the series! ???

Quote from: macleod on February 23, 2007, 11:17:07 AM...yes folks, the Undead become intelligent...

They've been leading up to that throughout the first three films, for crying out loud! Look at Bub from Day of the Dead!

How can you like the Dawn of the Dead remake over Land of the Dead? The Dawn remake was WAY MORE STUPID than Land of the Dead.

Somebody check this guy's pulse!

Well, I'm not a zombie if that's what you meant...

no Shaun of the dead was just a great film in general, with brilliantly composed cinematography. I though dawn of the dead was good in how it tried to do something different with the genre.

I maintain that Land of the Dead was more or less Romero's attempt to gore-out the rest...

Haha...Isaac, while I still think you're nuts, I think we can all rejoice about the next riff ;D

I wonder if Mike and Kevin liked the original Wicker Man.

I don't think this movie would work as a riff trax. I just watched it after seeing those clips on youtube. And as funny as Nic Cage running around in a bear suit punching women is, this movie sucks. But I think the ending was a very fitting and should be what eventually happens to Mr. Cage. He has to be one of the worlds worst actors. I heard that when they made Ghost Rider, they had to go back in do more special effect because they figured a CG Ghost Rider was a better actor then a real Nic Cage.

Apparently we will see.  The guys haven't messed up so far.  I think this one will be great.

Oh, come on. Ever see Wild at Heart? Raising Arizona? Adaptation? Great films, and those are just three examples. Sure Cage might make some bad films, but he's a great actor. Don't hold the turkeys he has made against him. 8)

True true.  Nic Cage has made as much good stuff as he has bad.

But I have to disagree with you that the remake of Dawn of the Dead was useless and un-needed.  I thought it was fantastic, and I see nothing wrong with tweaking the zombie movie sub-genre.  I know that the slow moving zombies are part of the mythos of the genre, but there's no rule that says "you cannot step out of these bounds".  Maybe they could have named it something else, but that's marketing for ya.  As a movie, I found the remake to be a really well done horror flick.  Now, does this movie substitute the older Romero classics?  Of course not.  But I don't think that was anyones intention.

Agreed.  For every awful movie he makes I think he makes 2 good ones.  Name any actor who hasn't made a bad movie.

Christian Bale was in Shaft.  Point made.

I actually liked Reign of Fire.  I thought the Star wars scene was really funny.  And Bale did a good job.  I thought the concept was kinda cool but I did agree that it would make and did make a good rifftrax.  I enjoyed the Matrix one too and I really like the whole trilogy.  Shaft is the only Bale movie I think was bad.  He's quickly becoming one of my favorite actors.
