Just couldn't stop chuckling while reading it. They've got some nice captures of some of the characters, most notably when "God" said "and Merry Christmas!" (or was it St. Nick? Or maybe it was just Mike Nelson...)

Actually, all the original Star Trek films have now been put on Blu Ray. I'm seriously considering the upgrade. Does the Rifftrax player work with Blu Rays?

The Player only works with standard DVDs. However you should be able to sync the mp3s with the Blu Ray, assuming that the version of the film on Blu Ray is exactly the same running time as the one on the standard DVD.

I'm guessing the Blu Ray version of the Rifftrax Player program will be added to the site around the same time that the Mac version is.  8)

I was just trying to watch Star Trek VI on Blu Ray with the riff track and since the blu ray is the theatrical version, while the dvd is a slightly extended cut, it wound up messing up right after the scene where the chancellor says Kirk will pay for her father's death.  I had to do some searching to find that out and eventually was able to get it to work (mainly due to kevin saying "go toward the light," which gave me a hint that it was the scene right before the trial begins).  does anyone know how to edit the track to get it to work with the blu ray?

All my research indicates that both the Collector's Edition dvd and the blu-ray are using the theatrical editions.  Plus, both editions share the same commentaries. I think the effort required to manipulate those tracks specifically enough to match each other is way more bothersome than its worth. I'd be wholly surprised if they did that (otherwise, they'd have the same problems as you).

Are you sure you're using the NTSC version of the RiffTrax (or PAL if you're elsewhere)?

Speaking of getting a RT to sync with a different edition of any movie, you'd have to edit the mp3 in an audio program to sync, which means a LOT of cut and pasting (as well as fine tuning everything else).  It'd be like doing a fanedit of a movie... but only in mp3 format.

Well, you're sources are wrong.  There is a scene in the Collector's Edition in which this dialogue takes place, right before the film transitions to the trial sequence:
SCOTT (OC): It's as I said, Mister Spock. Inventory registers every torpedo.
SPOCK: Yet the data banks insist we fired. One computer is lying.
SCOTT: A computer doesn't lie.
SPOCK: Precisely, Mister Scott. Therefore we must inspect each torpedo, ...visually.
SCOTT: That could take hours!
SPOCK: Nevertheless.
SCOTT: And if they're all there?
SPOCK: Then someone forged an entry in the data bank entry in the data banks.
VALERIS: Gorkon's daughter has been named Chancellor. It was on the news.
SCOTT: I'll bet that Klingon bitch killed her father.
SPOCK: Her own father?
VALERIS: It is an old story, sir.
SCOTT: They don't place the same value on life that we do, Spock, you know that. ...Take my word. She did not shed one bloody tear.
SPOCK: Hardly conclusive, Mister Scott, as Klingons have no tear-ducts. Lieutenant, any response from Starfleet since our dispatch?
VALERIS: Yes sir.
SPOCK: And?
VALERIS: Commander Uhura is experiencing technical difficulties, sir.
SPOCK: Curious. Very well. For twenty-four hours we'll agree this conversation did not take place.
VALERIS: A lie?
SPOCK: An omission.
SCOTT: But in twenty-four hours we won't have a clue where the Captain Kirk is.
SPOCK: I know precisely where he will be.
SCOTT: You do? Where?

That scene was not a part of the theatrical edition of Star Trek VI and is thus not on the blu ray.  So, while the riff works for the first 40 or so minutes, it gets off at that point because there is a minute or so of comments that don't make sense while watching the blu ray, starting with Kevin's comment about Kim Cattrell sliding down polls.  It took me ten or fifteen minutes to figure out what to do.  Kevin makes a comment about going toward the light right before the trial, and so I tried to sync it up with the segue into the trial room and I was a few seconds off, but the next time disembodio spoke, I was able to get it lined up.  It works for the rest of the movie, except it goes off by maybe ten seconds towards the end, so there must be a short scene in the collector's edition that is not on the blu ray sometime toward the end.

So, uh... first off, thanks for clarifying, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed I was checking out Star Trek V instead of VI.  Being in a thread specifically for V must've forced my brain to eliminate the "I" in "VI" in your post.  I remembered the scene you referenced by the second line but couldn't place when it happened.  But once Valeris started talking about the Chancellor, I was like "Wait!  That's Undiscovered Country!"  What a screwy mix-up.

So, yes, two different versions there.  Tho I did come across in my research that there are plans to release the theatrical editions on blu-ray some time in the future... so there is indeed hope.

Sorry to say that the only comfortable way to get the riff to align is to cut, delay, subtract, paste, etc. the track in the right position along with the movie.  Or just know when to pause and resume without any error.  Or probably best just to wait for the theatrical blu-ray.  Good luck to however you accomplish this!

Same here.  I remember vividly that scene in the theatrical release, but I attribute it to distant memory being what it is.  It also seems like an integral part of the plot, but if the blu-ray doesn't have it, then I guess it doesn't have it.  Maybe it was cut out in different parts of the country?  ???

Having said that... your last paragraph sounds more attributed to drift than a cut-scene considering the time difference being somewhat minimal and only in that one spot.

My Blu Ray has that scene so I don't know what he is talking about.  It was also on my VHS and both DvD copies I own.

Yea, I've never seen any version of STVI that din't have that scene.  My DVD and Blu-Ray both are listed at 113 minutes.
