Yup, that's exactly right. Not the useful video codec that came later.

If there is one thing I have learned about these types from DanialCriegeisnotbond.com it's that now matter how stupid,useless,or out of date their fight is they never give up.

Why did they name a good codec after the dumbest way to rent or buy anything in human history?

I haven't heard of anything from Bernie Farber in a long time. That page was at the original AOL Hometown for years and I think it only died when they pulled the plug on hometown.
