Well the topic line says it all. I wonder what happened.

Very odd... though after a little digging, I found this

http://www.youtube.com/user/retsuplay

Looks like they moved over there.  Not really sure why... but at least they didn't completely vanish.

EDIT:

Quote3 TOS warnings caused termination, not copyright. 1)Policenauts 2)Porkemon 3)Ultimate Challenge. Death by pizza rolls is the best way to go.

Does that make sense to anyone?  I found it here...

Looks like they've gone back about a year in their videos.

Axnollouse

As a follower of them for a little while now they have been prepairing for this for a while, go here: http://www.viddler.com/explore/retsu

They had 2 TOS violations in a week: the Ghost Hunters ish one and the "Pokemon guy" ones. So they got their asses ejected.

TOS violations?  Clarification?

Axnollouse

Well the people that they were making fun of were claiming that every video that they made was a copyright of thiers. After a few of those YouTube started to breath down their neck and started pulling their videos claiming Terms Of Service violations and then shut down their account.

It is sad really

They'd be better off finding a YouTube clone site to upload instead.  And unless they actually copyright it,  claim of copyright voilation is kinda bogus. Essentially they just got butt-hurt about their waste of time YT vids being made fun of?   pussies.....

Yeah, the copyright thing is bullshit.  So just SAYING you have a copyright on something (even if it's a video consisting of things you DON'T own) is enough for you to have one?

Well, if that's the case, then I hereby place a copyright on this post.  Anyone who quotes it will be reported and banned from this forum. NYAH!

Actually, yes, you're right.  Well, it's not just by "saying" you have one, but the moment you create something it is protected under copyright law.  You do not have to go file for a copyright.  You just have to be able to prove that you created it before whoever copied you, which is a little harder to do without getting an official copyright.  One trick I've learned is that if you write something; seal it in an envelope and mail it to yourself, then don't open it.  The date that the post office stamps on there will be proof enough that you wrote whatever is inside it before that date, and that evidence will hold up in court.

In this case, it's not a question of who did what first.  The content is obviously that of the creator of the video, they own it.  The question is weather what retsupurae is doing is infringing on their copyright.  I would tend to say no, it is adding enough of its own value that it makes it its own thing.  But then again, if that were true, we wouldn't have to wait for MST3K to re-purchase the rights to the films they want to put on DVD.
