I would kick his scrawny butt all the way down my hall...

Here is what happened on my shiny new Vistalicious laptop.

I download the file after much ado downloading the player and clicking boxes that were obviously superflous,
after the 8 minute download was ready, my popcorn popped and a cold drink in hand, a box pops up,

Something about associating the file. Ok, I guess that should have been built into the player, but, fine, I can figure that out.
I click OK

Poof!

Where did the download box go?
Wy isnt a wizard that will guide my addled vista-using mind to do the task that something else should be doing automatically?
Where the crap is the freaking riff  file?

I open search
I search for starwars.*
Vista - "It doesnt exist silly"
Me - Yes it freaking does, I just downloaded it, look in the places you hide from morons.
Vista - Hold on, this may take a while, why don't you just look for something else?
Me - Why the frick is this dang search so sloooow
...
Vista - "It doesnt exist silly"
Me ***  (*&^(^ &*^(*     &^*&*

Then I re-dowload

8 minutes later and Guess What? SAME THING!!!

I ask help which for once in it's career is actually mildly helpful and I figure out how to associate the file
I associate the file
I try to find it again my going directly to the "hidden" file where the temp files are.
Guess what? It ain't freakin' there.

Third time's the charm,. I'll let you know how this ends in a month or so, when it's all over.

I can't resist, I've got to have my Vista grumble too, even if it isn't Riff Trax related.

1) Like you, I have found that the Vista search is USELESS!  In the last 6 months, I've managed to get it to actually find something twice.  And I can't remember how I did it because, in my frustration, I manically clicked so many things and mashed so many keys that it was impossible for me to recall which combination succeeded.  :grr:

2) When I ask it to install a program, it asks me if I want to use this program.  Duh, I wouldn't have clicked 'Install program' if I hadn't wanted to use it in the first place!  This drives me insane.  And it leads to...

3) When I plug in my headphones (which I do quite often), a bubble pops up that reads, "Information - You just plugged a device into the audio jack."  I wouldn't want to be redundant (like a certain Windows program), but yes, I KNOW I plugged a device into the audio jack because - this is going to surprise you - I plugged it in!  :grr: Funny how that happens!

I could go on (and on and on, lol), but I think I've bored you all enough.  Sorry about the rant, but I feel better now.   ;D

On the bright side, I downloaded some Riff Trax yesterday, and it went smoothly.  I didn't download any extras, though, so that's probably why I didn't have any Vista farts.

Oh, and Civilization has conflicts with Vista too, grumble mumble mumble...
