Titanic

Everything leading up to the ship sinking was riffing gold. Watching events unfold and listening to jokes after the collision with the iceberg was tough to sit through.

My favorite Titanic joke ever ever ever, but takes a bit of explanation first:

In the Navy one of the important safety drills is what to do when a man falls overboard. Since life expectancy in cold water is short, being able to get the person back on board fast is vital. So we practice it ALL the time. To make practice easier, ship's crews make up a rescue dummy like this

Since the "man overboard" flag is the signal flag for "O" or "Oscar", then of course the dummy is lovingly referred to as "Oscar."

Got that?

So... now that it will be completely unfunny after that setup, but in the interest of completeness:

"Hey, didn't Titanic win Oscars for everything? Everyone got one, right?"
"Not Leonardo DiCaprio"
"Well that's because Leo *was* the Oscar..."

I was super-jazzed for Julie and Jack when it came out, but a bunch of stuff happened and then I kind of forgot it existed until Tyrant and I were discussing Birdemic the other day. So we downloaded it and watched it and now I suspect James Nguyen has had a career in sales and it deeply, deeply affected him.

Johnny Unusual

Yeah, he really took "write what you know" to heart.  And clearly, he only knows sales and Hitchcock and clearly not very well.

A satisfying Canada Day back bacon-y Rifftrax fest.

Danger! Keep Out!
To Catch a Yeti
Rock and Roll Nightmare

Earlier today was "Dreamscape" (kept waiting to hear Janet add to her Quiznos order)

Right now is "Inception," and you know what Leo just said? No, not the combination...

At 1830 yesterday I watched MegaForce on Amazon Prime and enjoyed it.

Prime also added Icebreaker and CyberTracker so I know what I will be doing on my day off!

I've been collecting Rifftrax DVDs for years, but just got into buying VoDs this past year. I'm poor now, but happy! I've binged on more than I can mention, but these are some favorites.

Star Wars Holiday Special - finally saw this in its entirety, after being intrigued by the Cinema Snob and Nostalgia Critic reviews. SO worth it, even if I had to explain to my husband I bought the Star Wars Holiday Special on a Life Day sale, which is possibly the geekiest thing I've ever said to anyone.

Swamp of the Ravens - my favorite Rifftrax so far! I love how dark and creepy it is and the guys' reactions to it, especially that crazy robot song. "Yeah!"

The Last Shark - got this hoping for some Devil Fish-esque fun, and was not disappointed. An awesome display of moustacherie.

Ruby  - I could easily watch this unriffed, but it's always nice to have friends along.

Santa and the Fairy Snow Queen short - nothing like kicking off the holidays with a good old fashioned acid trip.

And now I find myself with a $100 gift card to use during the next sale - any recommendations for more VoDs? I have all the DVDs, and some of the popular ones like Megaforce and Cool as Ice. I like cheesy horror and action, especially 70s/80s.

If you haven't seen it yet, definitely get Guy From Harlem.

Thrashalla

Guy From Harlem is absolutely essential.
Some personal favs:
http://www.rifftrax.com/kingdom-of-the-spiders (Shatner in a monster movie!)
The Last Slumber Party
Feature film · 2014

Thrill as a rented movie is watched! Chill as a boy someone likes is called and hung up on!! Squirm as ice cream is devoured directly from the container!!!

With Bill Corbett, Kevin Murphy, Mike Nelson

Tourist Trap
Feature film · 2012

Capitalizing on the widely-publicized series of unsolved murders that occurred at the Liberace Museum in Las Vegas in the late 1970s, Tourist Trap is a slasher film with all the classic elements.

With Bill Corbett, Kevin Murphy, Mike Nelson

Any issues with the RiffTrax main page should be directed to support@rifftrax.com Attempts to engage with me directly about such matters will result in ridicule.

Thanks for the suggestions! I've seen most of them but added Frankenstein Island to my list. I also just re-watched Planet of Dinosaurs (a favorite), and now I think I have to check out Dinosaurus too.

Pak-Man

My personal favorite at the moment is R.O.T.O.R. Pure '80s cheese.

Just watched Night of the Lepus and enjoyed it. Good riffs, and it's always funny to see stars in their Awkward 70s Phase.

I would second all of these, except maybe Tourist Trap. Can't stand that movie.

My list of "essential" VoDs would be

Guy From Harlem,
Ghosthouse (a cautionary tale about the dangers of not realizing you can just leave)
ROTOR (It's ROTOR, nuff said)
Wonder Women (for the absolute best chase sequence ever put on film)
Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny (I prefer the Thumbelina version)

And of course, The Star Wars Holiday Special

ManUnderMask

I survived the San Diego Comic Con 2010 Hall H stabbing.

NRRork

Jurassic World.

I hadn't seen the movie, because I knew it would be, well, a lot like what it was. Really cliched characters, a forced as hell romance, and I'm not proud of this but I really wanted to punch that younger brother. Like, a lot and really hard.

Most people found Force Awakens to be derivative, but it could've easily been THIS!

The Rifftrax was really funny, though, it's the only reason I would've watched this movie.
I used to have an image here, but Photobucket got cheap about remote linking. I guess I'll have to think of something witty instead. Which I will. Later. It caught me by surprise, in all honesty. It's hard to be clever on command, I mean, YOU try it. Be funny: NOW! See, tough. So, gimme a bit, 'kay?
