Dumb like a fox, if that's the case. I'm more inclined to agree with Spoony when he says she's more likely just batshit crazy.

I'm inclined to agree. How can she not see that she could have a normal life with a guy like Jacob despite his being a werewolf, unless the facet of werewolves being unable to control their violent urges comes into play. Otherwise, according to what has been presented in the Twilight films seems to indicate that Jacob has Bella's best interests in mind. Dare I say Bella would become a more sane person if she would have chosen Jacob. Instead, with Edward, her life is nothing but dangerous uncertainties with the Volturi trying to find every excuse to eliminate her.

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but if I had two guys interested in me, I'd chose the guy who wouldn't cause me to get hurt, maimed or killed.
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

But Bella wants to die...so she can be with Edward forever....and be immortal.

(although events in the last two books should tell her that even vampires die)

I don't recall if this has been posted before, but Cracked.com's take on the Twilight series made me laugh myself into a coma: http://www.cracked.com/funny-36-twilight/

QuoteThree hundred pages after "Oh, you like me too? No way, I thought you hated me!", the plot arrives late to the party, drunk, in a beat-up '53 Chevy pick-up truck. It drives away about fifty pages later and crashes into a tree, gets sent to the hospital, and is rarely heard from again throughout the course of the series.

It does. The head werewolf's fiance is scared for life because he got mad once. In the book it's even more crazy because the only reason she is his fiance is because he disfigured her and obviously no man would want her after that. Another great lesson for teenage girls! If you have a flaw, you should probably take what you can get even if he disfigured you.

vampires in film/tv are all gay anyway.  There is no escaping that.

Except Spike. He's a man's....vampire man...thing. Yeah. He's the manliest vampire I've ever seen.

Since we seem to be suggesting fiction creates behaviour, Spike did attempt to kill Buffy for a number of years and then try and rape her so y'know.

Never saw those episodes....did they keep it clear that Spike was the villain of the piece?  That would be a big difference.

No, I thought the show went from being great to unwatchable during seasn 4 so I didn't see it often but from memory he stayed Buffy's love interest both before and after he tried to rape her and she  took his side over her friends for pretty much the rest of the show's run.

Not that I think that means anything (much less a statement on how to live or a guide to relationships) since his role, much like Edward Cullen's seems to be the stereotypical 'bad boy' just updated and modified for the audience.  If Twilight was written in the 50's Edward would be a biker or Paulo the pool boy or something, the young girl seduced by the thrill of the mysterious and dangerous is as old as time.

...just wait until some of the Twihards discover the incredible Buffyverse.

For Christmas I'm giving a friend who is heavily into Twilight seasons 1 and 2 of Buffy.   :)   She's enjoyed the RiffTrax for Twilight, and has been watching both True Blood and Vampire Diaries, so I know she isn't too obsessed by the particular Twi-characters to accept something different.  Hopefully she'll enjoy the only one of the four that I could rewatch [well, barring Twilight with the RiffTrax commentary].

BTW, there's a thread on the message board of IMDB for New Moon reporting all the riffing that was done in the different theaters....

Lots of good one's on there but one of my favorites is...

QuoteAlso in the Italy scene when she was running past some guy, some girl in the Audience called out "I Changed my mind, Im not team Jacob anymore, Im team that guy that was just on screen for less then a second"

You'd think what happens to the cute looking blond vampire bad guy in the first movie would have driven the point home. No matter how the Twihards paint the Bella and Edward "romance" I still don't understand why she'd pass up a hot looking, totally devoted, sane guy like Jacob for that pasty twit. The only explanation has been stated in here and that Bella is mentally unstable.

I find it really funny that two women are having this discussion, I'd say at least 80% of the guys here will be able to say from personal experience that a teenage girl picking a guy who's bad for her over a nice, stable guy happens all the time.

Tripe

Ah, I wondered how long it would take for a "nice guy" to start bleating.  ;)

I find it funny that you've claimed you're not a Twihard and yet you seem to live in this thread...

Although most, if not all of what you do is not comment on the film but comment on others commenting on the film.

Isn't there's a term for that....?
