What an odd choice, I thought this movie was decent but it's hardly as silly as Top Gun or Matrix.... but then Mike's also done brilliant movies so I don't know, but it just seems an odd choice to me.

I am certain Mikes love for Mathew McConaughey had a lot to do with it.

I think we can all pretty much agree though that it will still be quite entertaining though! :)

didn't we agree (last time) not to make this thread until everyone had a chance to read the 20 questions?

Actually I believed it was to either not mention the movie's title in the subject, or put SPOILER beforehand so if people wanted to be surprised they could be.

Therefore I have moved this thread to "Coming soon" - I think anyone who glances in the COMING SOON board should know that it's going to contain spolerish subject lines and topics. However the announcement board is where we will keep everything hush, since that's where 20 questions tends to go (or has gone lately).

I hope you all agree this is a good way to go.

Here's what I didn't get about this movie:

1) The dragons eat ash
2) The dragons breath fire
3) The dragons were STARVING?

Wait, couldn't they just burn shit and eat it?

Though it has been a while since I've seen it, maybe they explained it and I've forgotten...
FINE

Sweet! I have (and enjoy) this movie.

But putting "spoiler" in the title really doesn't work if you put the title right next to it, gammer.  >:(

That doesn't really help those of us who just use the "show unread posts" link, though.

The biggest problem with this film is that we're meant to buy that a few dragons could have overpowered the world's military. Seriously, how's a giant flying lizard able to defeat the frigging Air Force and Navy?

And it takes several years after humanity is almost wiped out before some realizes there's only one male dragon in the whole world?

I think the correct way to make a spoiler free announcement is to leave the title out of the subject line.  Something like "Next Rifftrax Announced for 12/22!  Details inside!"  Or something similar to that.

Those of us who see that and realize that there must have been a 20 questions or other puzzle game that we missed, we could search that out to read instead of jumping right into the spoiler.

I didn't do that. TorgosPizza did that.

Here's the issue...and the issue that I had. If no-one reads this post...buried in some topic somewhere, then the next person that comes along might post it and put the title in the subject line. I certainly never realized that we weren't putting the title in the subject or I wouldn't have done it. Now that I know, I wont do it again. But how are you going to bring this to the attention of the next person who doesn't realize this and decides to post the announcement?

I think maybe the Admins should take the initiative to create an announcement that is suitable. And besides, even at that, there is still a chance your going to find out what the next movie is by reading it in some other post where it is made reference to.

I agree that it would be hard, if not next to impossible, to prevent the new Rifftrax from being eventually spoiled.  Maybe if everyone agrees to wait at least 24 hours before mentioning the new Rifftrax in a new subject.

I don't understand why board members are posting announcements of new Rifftrax anyway.  Something like that should be up to the mod's to do, when they feel it is appropriate.  Isn't the point of the games and puzzles to let us have the fun of trying to figure it out?  Isn't the game itself the announcement?  Why do people insist on posting an announcement thread as soon as the game is finished?  What is the point of even doing the game, if folks are going to do that before everyone has a decent opportunity to play catch up?

Or maybe it is just me that feels this way.  I do know that I was disapointed to have the Firewall Rifftrax announcement spoiled for me before I had the chance to read the twenty questions (which I had missed by just a few hours).

Sometimes, we have to invoke the "well, tough shit" mantra.

I don't see why any of this is an issue at all....

Exactly. Some people will be mad that the announcement was made before reading the 20 questions, and other people will be mad that they have to sift through several pages to find out what the next movie is.

Whats that saying?..."You can please some of the people all the time, or all the people some of time".
