If the next Riff is Twilight, they need to forgo the game and announce it already.....

Maybe I was wrong. (If so, I'm glad no one took me up on that bet.) With the Friday release of the movie, wouldn't they have announced it by now if that were the next RiffTrax?

I think the point I was trying to make is that iRiffs can't hope to gain the kind of ground that Rifftrax has, because Rifftrax has big names in riffing backing it, names you can trust.  iRiffs are hit and miss.  Rifftrax are too (Phantom Menace ick), but less.  So the idea that iRiffs will render Rifftrax obsolete is absurd.  That's what I'm trying to say.

But financially, I wonder if iRiffs is supporting them enough that they don't have to make as many official RiffTrax?

Is that a serious question?
I certainly didn't take it as such. iRiffs probably makes them enough to cover the extra bandwidth necessary for it.

From the sound of it, maybe not even that.
(Please keep iRiffs around)

I'm stilll suprised we aren't having another 20Q (or Photo Riff) to day since that would mean it's released next week, which is the usual two week interval.
Maybe this means more shorts? If so, totally worth it.

All that bacon screwed up Mike's brain and he's been dumpster diving for the past month looking for "trax" to riff. He doesn't know what "trax" are, but he insists he'll know when he sees them. This could take a while.

We could have a game tomorrow for a release next Tuesday. Wednesday games have been common, especially when there's a release on Tuesday, so they arent trying to handle a release and a game on the same day.

I'm still trying to catch up on all the recent (and not-so-recent) releases.  So if they want to wait a little while before they put out the next one, that's fine with me.

I would also like to repeat the request for Twilight.  From what I have seen of that, it would be a great Rifftrax.

David

Horrible plus inexplicably successful? It's a must-riff.

Dr. Whopoopeepee

Please don't riff Twilight.  The embarrassment of renting Twilight will probably prevent me from purchasing any riff of Twilight.  Twilight absolutely deserves the Rifftrax treatment, but I don't think it needs (or deserves) any extra money.

I'd rather have the other Lord of the Rings, or another Harry Plotzer, or pretty much anything up to and including Howard the Duck (which would be friggin awesome!).

But you got hold of "Crossroads" and "Glitter" with no problem?  :)

Doctor Who?

Yeah that's my feeling I own Glitter and The Happening so Twilight is no biggie.

Hey I'd buy a copy of Titanic if there was a Rifftrack for it.

For Bad movies I always buy used DvDs that way the filmmakers don't get any extra money.

Also, it's kind of easy to get a DVD without having anyone see you these days.

Good Lord.  Am I the only human being on these forums who's heard of Netflix?

Doctor Who?

Yeah i use them sometimes  but if i own the rifftrack I like to own the movie too.

I think iRiffs helps them a lot by bringing more eyeballs to the rifftrax site, and bringing those people back on a regular basis.  "Check back often!".  But I can't imagine that they're making enough profit from the iRiffs to cover a single person's salary, never mind the entire staff of rifftrax.com.  And even with that income, why would they make fewer official rifftrax?  Just so they can reduce their earnings?  Because they hate riffing?  Or would it be better to keep doing new rifftrax-ish products, and maybe expand the business a bit more?  ("expand" by having more money that they could then put into different types of projects, I mean.  Not simply adding 1-more official rifftrax).

At times I've mused that the main reason for branching out into iRiff support is to educate all of us in the peanut gallery as to just how challenging it is to make a real living off riffing some movies.  Plenty of people in the forums talk as if the main riffers must be making millions of dollars on riff tracks.  The easiest way to argue with those people is to say, "Okay then, here's your chance to make millions of bucks!  Let's see how you do!".  Not as exciting as an endless flame-war, but then I don't think these guys are the flame-war types.

... and if you disagree with my opinion on that, I'll fight you to the end of my days!  You're all hitler!

David

All right I made a terrible post. Sorry.
