Wonderfully fun source material + Edgar Wright = the most excited I've been for a movie, ever?

I'm very geeked out for this. The cast is fleshed out and filming begins in March. I know I don't have to ask if there are any other Wright fans on the board, but is there by chance fans of the Pilgrim books? Any thoughts on the casting choices??

*cannot wait to see the Ramona/Knives fight on the silver screen*

Edit: Fixed silly typo.

I absolutely adore Scott Pilgrim, and the movie looks to be great. Casting so far looks good (still a little on the edge about Michael Cera as Scott, but that's mostly because I'm not to hot for the actor overall. This could be the movie that pushes him onto my A-list), and I'm already shaking about it since Wright's directing.

I personally cannot wait for the Honest Ed's segments, those are some of my favorite scenes (and hopefully they can squeeze Knives' dad in this thing as well).

Tripe

Ooh this has the pretty but evil girl from Sky High in it. That's a definite plus.

I'm slightly nervous about Cera but going to remain as optimistic as ever w/ the maestro behind the project. Edgar hit the jackpot w/ casting Johnny Storm as Lucas Lee, and I'm becoming more excited about the casting of Superman as the faux-Vegan, Todd Ingram, by the day.

And the Scott/Ingram duel at Honest Ed's should warrant price-of-admission alone. That's gong to be incredible especially bringing in Wright's machine-gun editing to capture it.

Very good times, await.

He's currently in Toronto freezing his ass off (see pic).

Thanks, P-List!

...and shooting starts in April.  :)

Considering how Toronto stands in for so many places in films, I'd have loved them to not film there, it would have been a nice little ironic touch :)

Irony aside, with the city of Toronto playing as the backdrop of the comic and home of its creator, Bryan Lee O'Malley, I would've been a tad bit saddened if it was filmed anywhere else. With all of that being said, I'm a big-time fan of irony, but not in this particular case.  :)

Addendum: Just posting in this thread makes me smile.

Oddly enough, I hear O'Malley recently moved. To North Carolina I think.

I had to google that one. I guess he wanted to be closer to RVR!

Dragon, I reread Gets It Together yesterday in anticipation for the release of vs. the Universe. It would be super-neat if Wright could fit Knives' dad into it, but I doubt it's going to happen. I haven't read of anything pertaining to the confirmed source material Wright's working with, but it looks like Precious Little Life/vs. the World/Infinite Sadness will be it stemming from the cast of characters. Here's hoping it's a cult hit, and we'll be given the sequel.  ;)

Anyhoo, bring on February 18th and the Twins!

Vs. the Universe comes out this month, and it's the penultimate chapter apparently.  Also a small collection of misc Scott stories was released this week.

Yep, Scott's facing the Twins in VtU, and then it's the battle w/ Gideon in the finale. As much as I like Ramona, I hope he ends up w/ Kim Pine.  :)

There wasn't much press for the above, was there JohnnyU? I'll be looking for that tomorrow when I hit up my comic book shop. And check out these little treasures...

Must get!

It's strange. I cannot find any information bearing the collection of miscellaneous Pilgrim stories over at Oni Press' website. Howbeit, I will be picking up Black Metal...
