Digital Copy Included!

What the hell is the point of this? Apart from putting it on your iPod, it has no use. (Would there be a point to that anyway? I can't believe your battery is going to last long enough to watch the movie. And it's tiny as hell.) The native format for Hellboy 2 is WMV, which is worthless. You might as well just watch the DVD on your computer. It has to convert to the iPod format. And it's DRM, so you can't do whatever you want with it. It's over 1GB so I'm pretty sure the disc itself is a DVD, which means you have a DVD-ROM, which means you could just watch the movie. Don't they realize that people don't WANT a "digital" ..."version" of the movie, they just want a FREE one they can STEAL. The copy isn't going to make anyone buy the DVD who wouldn't have bought it anyway. It's like if a comic book came with a smaller photocopy of the same comic. This is dumb, and doesn't warrant an extra disc and a price hike. ($23 for Hellboy II at Walmart when it's only $18 on their website.) Having a movie on your iPod shouldn't be any more popular with people than the crappy UMD format, which is a failure. It's like a CD coming with an 8-track. It's like an Obama coming with a Biden. I don't think this was supplied due to any demand. Thinking this is what people want is akin to thinking people prefer a bootleg VHS of a movie shot on a camcorder in a movie theater.

Get a clue, Hollywood!

Yeah, on DVD's its a bit pointless... It works better on memory cards... I got a free copy of Ghost Rider with my PSP memory card... Unfortunately, it takes up 75% of the card, so it works a bit better, but not by much

While I do think it's dumb to include movies in a DRMed format on a DVD, my iPod video has the ability to watch at least 3 movies before dying (and music afterwards, and it's old).  My iPhone can watch 2 movies and still function as a phone for hours and hours afterwards.  It's also not that tiny.  It's no big screen, but the picture is a lot better and more watchable than some portable DVD players I've seen (not saying much, I know).
mike5150 how tall are you?.....in gallons?

To me it makes no sense that you can rip your music on iTunes but you have to convert your movies, which takes a long time (for me anyway, I need better software).

But, I don't need that many movies on my iPod, mostly just for the gym, oh and on a plane.

Ripping music is conversion, it's just quicker because the files are smaller. Max bytes for a CD is something like 800 megs. A DVD can be 4 gigs (maybe more, I don't remember). You only have to convert the WMV (on Hellboy II anyway, don't know about Incredible Hulk or other DVDs... Reno 911 Miami is one) to iTunes format. It doesn't take that long, but you still have to obviously buy the DVD that comes with the digital copy instead of just ripping it.

I've said they should just include a program on the DVD that converts the movie. It would save a lot of space.

Doctor Who?

I like it when they include them with the Blue Ray versions like they did with TIH.

I rip video with out the DRM(using fairuse wizard)and then change it to MP4 format(using Youtube video downloader)and them put it on my PSP.

I wish all Blu Rays came with a DC.

The sad thing is that "digital copies" that the studios provide are lower quality than just ripping the movie off of the DVD / BD yourself. You get a better quality with 3rd party software than the studio itself is able (or perhaps willing) to generate, off of their own product. You also get it DRM free, and can output to pretty much any format you want on the first transfer (instead of having to convert a transfer, making it a double conversion).

Doctor Who?

Well as I said if you have Fiaruse Wizard you can ripp the video from the DC disc and the video file you create will be DRM free.

That's why I like the DC copy discs that come with Blue Ray Discs.

I have no way to rip a BD (no BD drives or anything), so as I said, it'd be useful there. I really like what Disney did with their latest Sleeping Beauty BD--included a DVD with it.

Do you have a PS3? If so, you can run Linux on it (they have an "install other OS" option built right into the XMB), and use a BD ripper from there.

Whatever the point is, they usually expire by the time the DVD makes it's way to the $9 rack at Walmart where I get 85% of my DVDs. There is usually a little note on the back of the box: "Digital copy must be redeemed by August 22, 1994."

It's a digital copy, not a voucher for a digital download.
