sorry if this has been adressed but is anyone else unable to upload a utube url to the cuts section? all i get is a yellow error on the page message in the bottom corner. I need help...
"Watch out for snakes!"

"Hey, my proboscis doubles as a party favor!"

In the bottom corner? Can you paste what it says? It's really hard to troubleshoot something when all you tell us is the color of the error message :)

I've grabbed YouTube videos fine so I'm wondering if it's the URL you are using?

DarthPhobos

it just has a ! in a yellow triangle and says error on page in the bottom corner of my browser...

this is the type of url I paste:

"Watch out for snakes!"

"Hey, my proboscis doubles as a party favor!"

That's on our site? We don't have any error message that use the exclamation point with a triangle around it. Can you send me a screenshot?

DarthPhobos

um... how do I do that?

could it be i dont have the right flash or java?

Hmm well the YouTube downloader doesn't use Flash or Java, it's just a formfield with a submit button. You're on the cuts/upload page right?

You could try taking a screenshot by hitting the print screen button, and then pasting it into Word or Photoshop. (Hitting PrintScrn puts the image of your desktop into your clipboard so you can paste it to other applications).

DarthPhobos

I can't get that to work. It just says done and then error on page...

I dont have time to finish this now but I will check back later

its frustrating cus i have a billion videos to use

thanks for your help

I'm seeing the little triangle error too

It says
Line: 88
Char: 4
Error: "title" is null or not an object
Code: 0
URL http://www.rifftrax.com

I'm not sure that's what's causing the youtube error, but there's your screenshot... And it doesn't seem to be causing any trouble elsewhere....

EDIT: Sorry, that's the triangle I see on the rifftrax homepage
There's one on the cuts page,
(sorry no screenshot, as they look exactly the same)

Its after you click on the cuts link

it says
Line: 76
Char: 4
Error: "title" is null or not an object
Code: 0

Weird, okay - just so we're clear, do you get that after you've tried submitting a YouTube video? It's also good to know you're using IE. If you need to get it done right away, try using Firefox, as I don't have those errors on it. (I need to do more testing under IE anyway.)

OmegaR!

@ the upload page the line error is at
Line: 82

I grabbed a random video to see if it works (it was a Simpson's game cut scene) and it seemed to work okay for me
Just got to wait for the confirmation e-mail I guess

I'm gonna take a guess and say that's what DarthPhobos' problem is...

or is it supposed to be instantly uploaded??
(when you upload a video)

torgosPizza

Yeah I'm not sure why it's redirecting you back to the front page... are you not logged in when you're uploading these?

The JS error that's popping up is due to the search bar. Something about it isn't very well liked by MSIE.

OmegaR!

Nah, its not directing me back to the front page

(that's just where I got the screen shot from, or where I noticed the little triangle from)

DarthPhobos

well it wont work no matter what i do. any chance on just getting some uploaded?

Hang on, before anyone uploads those, let me make sure they're not already in the database. The cuts YouTube system doesn't actually "upload" anything, not the same way that the Flash uploader below it does. So let me check and if they're already there, then it should be a simple matter of adding them.

Could I make a suggestion regarding the videos that are uploaded?  One of the videos in the database is too loud for the riffs to be heard clearly, so I'm wondering if there can be a way to adjust the video volume.  You know, like having separate volume sliders for the video and riffs.  It doesn't seem possible to adjust the volume when editing the cuts.

[The video in question is titled Week_SIx_Mob_vs._Maulers.flv]
