I ordered a region one copy of Firewall from ebay (as it was advertised) and upon receival, I noticed that it's a region-9 copy.  I'm pissed at the seller, of course, but I'm certainly not going to buy another copy of Firewall.  So does anyone know what rifftrax I need for a region-9 copy of Firewall to sync properly?

torgosPizza

That's listed as "Expansion" or "Region-Free" meaning, I guess, playable in all areas. Did you try syncing it yet?

BathTub

region 9? wtf.

still probably ntsc.

What is the runtime?

gammer

Yeah, I'm willing to bet this is a copy...and it should be NTSC.

If you try ripping it with DVD Decrypter it will tell you (as you're ripping) if its 30fps or whatever it its. If it says 30fps then its NTSC.

Hmm,got my copy from ebay too,and that was region 0 with Chinese? writing on it (never mentioned in item description).Looked at bits of it on 'puter and plays ok but when I try to rip it it gives an error report about 60% through  ??? Ordered another (new) one from Amazon anyway, think I will stick to new ones now.Hope it works so I can watch it tonight.Still waiting for my Dr. Moreau to come from the USA so I can watch that as well ::)

I've noticed these chinese knockoffs showing up at my fav used dvd store too. Odd

Do you mean the disc says "DVD-9"? If there is some kind of logo on the front of the case with "DVD-9" then you have a bootleg.  The DVD-9 discs are dual layer and that is the bootleggers sign of quality that they are using dual layer discs.

Here is a nice article about it:

That's the thing.  The box says region one.  It's a very nice printing job, too.  If I hadn't seen these kind of pirate copies before, I would've assumed nothing wrong.  The sticker on the actual DVD gives it away though.

Watched mine last night and it plays perfectly in my Phillips dvd player, had to listen to the mp3 through my portable cd player though which has a constant buzz all the time even when switched off!My disk looks legitimate but the cover has been put into the case and crumpled a bit so i guess it is a dodgy version, perfect pic though. Will give dvd away and wait until new copy arrives and try to make my own re-author (not tried it yet so good job I have plenty of free time).Thought the rifftrax was really good, encouraged me to watch Pod People afterwards, but fell asleep half way through.
