The African Queen was never available on DVD until now soon?

I must admit that I'm embarassed to never have noticed...

I would love to see an official release of Megas XLR.  Chicks do indeed dig giant robots.
I meditate diligently every morning. The subject is Life and Love. I quit after three seconds.

Is it coming to Blu ray too?  Old movies tend to look great on Blu Ray when they are given a good restoration.

Good news (at least to me) from our friends at Shout!:

QuoteShout! Factory and
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Inc.
Announce Content Deal

SHOUT! FACTORY LANDS HOME ENTERTAINMENT RIGHTS TO POPULAR TELEVISION PROPERTIES

MAX HEADROOM
AND
THE NORM SHOW

Los Angeles, CA - Shout! Factory and Warner Home Video, a division of Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Inc., announced a multi-property alliance to bring the highly anticipated Warner Bros. television series Max Headroom and The Norm Show to the home entertainment marketplace. Under its multi-year agreement with Warner Home Video, Shout! Factory will be the exclusive media company to distribute Max Headroom and The Norm Show DVDs for home entertainment releases in the United States and Canada. The announcement was made today by Shout! Factory founding partners Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos; and Jeff Brown, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Non-theatrical Franchise Marketing for Warner Home Video.

Production has begun to develop a wide range of bonus content for Max Headroom: The Complete Series DVD box set, as well as re-transferring the episodes from the original elements to provide the highest picture quality.

I don't care about the Norm Show, but having Max Headroom on DVD will be great. (And it seems like they're doing a set of the "blink and you'll miss it" 80s show Tales of the Gold Monkey as well.)

Doctor Who?

Please tell The Norm show is not some bad spin off of Cheers.

Norm MacDonald.

Whoa.  Dodged a bullet there.  They gave what's her name's Ex husband a spin off so the Norm show is not as out there as it may first sound.

For those that were interested, the complete Daria series is coming to DVD May 11th, includes every episode and both movies. As for whether or not the original music will be used, there is no official word, though it can probably safely be assumed it will be replaced., according to tvshowsondvd.com
QuoteIn July 2009, TVShowsOnDVD.com announced that a DVD release for the series is planned for 2010.[18]  In November 2009, more details emerged about the upcoming release regarding how it would be distributed and potential extras. It was also revealed that due to high licensing costs, much of the music on the show will be replaced by covers or sound alike songs on the dvd release (although the studio has not released an official word about this topic)

The Norm Show wasn't that bad, for all 3 episodes or so that got on the air.  Fred Willard was on it and played...well, Fred Willard, but that was enough.  I tell you, the man can make anything watchable.

Oh, right, he was in Epic Movie and Date Movie.  Well, ALMOST anything watchable.
One Man Band Riffs.  18 riffs, over 600 served, since 2009.

Well, another long lost film is heading to DVD:

August 3, 2010

For you younguns, this is a sci-fi western with sorcery. With Robots. And Road Warrior "tributes." And some pretty decent 3-D effects, from what I heard.(It was R rated. Couldn't see those back then.)

And BTW: Here's the much more visually interesting movie poster:

I was listening to an interview with Mel Brooks this morning (the musical version of Young Frankenstein is in town right now and he was promoting it) and he let slip that a DVD set of his series "When Things Were Rotten" was on the way. For those you who don't know, this was a TV series aired on ABC in the mid-70s based around Robin Hood. It wasn't great, but even bad Mel Brooks is still very entertaining.

Holy cow! A long lost one just resurfaced!

I was just over at Warner's Archive site, looking for a made for TV movie, and I saw an ad for this:

Pirates of Dark Water was an action adventure show from the early 90s about:

"The series followed a group of adventurers on a quest to collect the Thirteen Treasures of Rule, which possessed the combined power to stop an evil substance known as "Dark Water" from consuming the alien world of Mer."

It had a very dedicated following who were a bit miffed when the series ended basically mid-plot. It also had a great voice cast including Geroge "Superman in JL" Newburn, Peter Cullen and Tim Curry. And for years, animation fans have been clamoring for it. Well, now it's here.

Yeah, it's a Warner Archive title, meaning it wasn't remastered, just imported to a DVD from existing files, but it's available if you were a fan.

Oh wow. I vaguely remember that! I can't beleive that show had fans enough for it to come to DVD. Must EVERYTHING I occasionally watched come out on DVD to remind me how mindlessly I used to watch TV? Next Bump In the Night will come out on DVD! Sheesh.
