I learned that ice hats can be stylish when you're surrounded by people dressed in fur. :^)

I learned that Marlon Brando has some sort of twisted God complex!

I learned that ice hats -exist-.

Wiseblood

Apparently that actually was an ice bucket that Brando put on his head out of boredom.

"By the time Brando had arrived [...] no one was willing to say no to anything, which is why Brando wears an ice bucket on his head in one scene," Stanley says. Brando himself later commented that particular scene: "I was just so bored, I didn't know what else to do!"

WOW! I don't care HOW disenchanted you've become with your movie. When you're willing to say, "Yeah, Brando! Putting an ice bucket on your head might just salvage this scene. Leave it right there! And, ACTION!" It's time to scrap the movie. :^)

I learned that when a man-beast monster thing says that he doesn't want any more pain... he really means that he wants another man-beast monster thing to do the exact opposite and painfully rip a microchip out from under his flesh.

Man, that is almost TOO bizarre to be true.

I wish I read this (and the link) before watching the movie. It would have made it more fun.

Okay, then if they don't really exist, I learned that I want one.

And I also learned that if you're Marlon Brando, people let you do whatever the hell you want. No matter what.

There's your stinger for ya.

I think when an actor gets so full of himself that he refuses direction and does whatever he wants, it's time to retire. Especially Marlon Brando, who (in my opinion) is extremely overrated and seems to ride on the success of a few popular films he was in.

Also, I learned that Val Kilmer improvised the scene where he sits in a chair and reads quietly.

Everyone's coming down on Brando, but from what i've read Kilmer's the one to blame. Especially when it comes to being "full of themselves" or "refusing direction".

I was flying into LAX from some connecting city, can't recall, and I sat behind Val Kilmer in a plane once (it was during his batman days).  He was a jerk.  The flight attendants were buzzing about batman being on board (he came on the plane last, of course, so I eavesdropped) but when he was there, they were perfectly nice and not "fannish" at all. Regardless, he spent the entire flight being a real prick to them.  He didn't come across as a nice person and he did come across as having an ego bigger than the plane.  I guess he could have just been having a bad day.  He looked rough so maybe he was drunk.  Who knows.  I do know that if I were a flight attendant, that's about when I would have started making cracks about his awful performance as Batman, but that's probably why I don't work at LAX.

Everybody comes down on Brando because it's very well known that he was a big prima donna and had this bizarre sense of entitlement about him. When he did Apocalypse Now he basically tried to do whatever HE wanted because he was Marlon Brando and he's not going to take orders from anyone. He showed up late, overweight, and not having learned any of his lines. The sheer arrogance of an actor who thinks he's above learning his lines is mind-boggling.

As for Dr. Moreau, what kind of an actor demands a radio to help him remember his lines? And I don't consider old age to be an excuse. Laurence Olivier wouldn't have done anything like that even in his old age (though I'm sure any director would have allowed him to) because he was a professional, while Brando is a big tantrum-throwing baby.

Val Kilmer is also an egotistical jerk, but I still think Marlon Brando needs to be recognized as the uncooperative, arrogant jerk that he is.

I was speaking mainly about who was at fault for Moreau being the complete mess that it turned out to be. And from the lame 11year old Hollywood gossip that i've only just recently read on the internet... there's more blame to be put on Kilmer than Brando. I'm sure that Brando could be blamed for a number of horrible movies. But as far as Moreau goes... i think that he just lost faith in the film like everyone else because of the fall-out from Kilmer's behavior.

Anyway, i'll recognize that Brando could be an uncooperative and arrogant jerk... but i still think that it was Kilmer who brought down The Island Of Dr. Moreau.
