I saw Batman today but the audio kinda kicked out during the last 1/3 of the film. The music was booming, but the voices were not coming in very loud. I got most of the film understood. Anyway I got a free movie for the problem. It doesn't say free pass to see Batman. So my question is this:

Since I've already seen Batman should I use it to see a movie I wouldn't really want to pay to see. (not talking about sneaking in or anything). But go see a movie I other wise wouldn't see (like Meet Dave) since it is technically "free". If yes should I see:

Meet Dave
Mummy 3
Tropic Thunder
Wall*E (willing to pay to see)

or should I just see Batman yet again (willing to pay). Also going to see Hulk tomorrow at the discount theater. so not wasting it on that. I think I can spend $2.25 to see Hulk

Get you 4 straws and let someone mix'em and they'll decide which straw for which movie and you pick one :-X

Face it, you'll see Dark Knight again.  That movie is an addiction, and you'll need your fix sooner or later.

I think if you saw Meet Dave in the theater that you'd have some sort of bragging rights (?) as the only person here to actually have seen it.

I'd say Mummy. If you don't want to use it to watch Batman again, it's better to just pay nothing to see nothing. Meet Dave would be free pain.

But overall, go see Wall-E. I LOVE THAT MOVIE SO MUCH!

I've seen it, though I did get paid to, so I guess I don't count.  :)

I'd pick Tropic Thunder.  That movie looks pretty great.

Doctor Who?

Based on trailers i would say see Wall E.

But I would say above any of the movies on the list see The Dark Knight again.

I saw Meet Dave.  Good gravy, it was awful.  Wall*E is probably the best of the other films you've listed.  It's a wonderful film.
I haven't seen the other two, but my personal tastes would probably steer me towards Mummy 3.  If it's anything like the last two, it'll be bad, but in a fun way.

Glaring continuity problems, lots of jokes that made no sense, poor comic timing in general, Eddie Murphy phoning his performance in, establishing the rules governing the scifi elements of the film and then repeatedly breaking them without explanation...

I admit it could have been worse.  You need only look at the actor/director team's previous effort to see that it could have been a lot worse.  And there were occasional flashes of comedic brilliance.  Somehow I cannot convert "it could have been worse" and "occasional flashes of comedic brilliance" into a recommendation.

I wrote a review for my site if you want a more detailed opinion.

I don't think Murphy phoned in his performance.

And I really think that you are treating its star and director too harshly - major studios like 20th Century Fox have more control over the actual content of films than directors have, especially in big-budget productions like this. And Murphy had no control over the screenplay. And surely your problems with the storyline have to do with the ideas Corbett and and Greenberg? There were rewrites, sure, but it doesn't seem that any of the story structure was changed too much, and Corbett even said that the rewrites had to do with the addition of jokes. Corbett even said himself that while he groaned at a couple of the jokes, he felt that the parts that he and Greenberg had written came off well.

I didn't really see any of the problems you mentioned in your post. I really think that you are being too harsh on the film. Additionally, about the film's ending...

Additionally, Norbit wasn't THAT bad. I found it to be funny, and it was a LOT better than Daddy Day Care, The Haunted Mansion, I Spy, The Adventures of Pluto Nash and Showtime.

QuoteOh, and why does Eddie Murphy keep doing this kind of thing when he obviously doesn't enjoy it? Steve Martin or John Cleese would have been ideal, but they've both more or less retired.

I like how you'll blame Eddie Murphy for the quality of the movies he's been in, but you think that Martin or Cleese could have "done better" even though they've been in as many critically-disdained films - Cleese had Yellowbeard, Erik the Viking, Splitting Heirs, the 1994 Frankenstein, George of the Jungle, Parting Shots, Pluto Nash, Roberto Benigni's Pinocchio, George of the Jungle 2, Disney's Around the World in 80 Days and Valiant, while Martin appeared in Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Movers & Shakers, Bringing Down the House, Novocaine, Cheaper by the Dozen, Cheaper by the Dozen 2, and cowrote The Pink Panther.

(NOTE: I'm not saying that ALL of these movies were bad. Just that critics treated them harshly.)

Eddie Murphy is dead to me, but I hope his new stand-up is successful cuz that's what is was always great at.
