Let me begin by saying I like Keith Olberman and watch countdown most nights.

I watched it tonight and caught a funny movie related error, not that Keith makes many.

In relation to the revelation that the "anthrax letters" that killed several people in 2001-2 were in fact likely an "inside job" by someone working for the US government, Keith made a reference to "the andromeda strain". (The classic movie, not that PoS they defecated onto the airwaves a while back.)

He said the amdromeda strain was a movie about american biological weapons killing american citizens.

Ok small blooper there. Project wildfire as seen in the movie was a biological warfare program, and, apparently, it sent a satellite out to see if there were any possible biological agents in earth orbit that could be used as weapons.

But the star of the movie, the actual andromeda strain itself, was not created by america and was an extraterrestrial organism.

So, a minor blunder there, and related to a movie, hence it's mention here.

So, it's not even a movie error, but an error someone made while talking about movies?

And that deserves it's own thread?

Maybe he was referring to the remake cuz they changed the plot a little.  The Andromeda Strain in the new version comes from the future and is man-made, but is some kind of accident they want people from the past to cure.

Chaos

Either way, it's not even remotely funny as errors go, it's just a general ignorant television personality blunder. :P

I always cringe when TV talking heads go off script and try discussing sports, movies or current events.   It usually is embarassing.

Olbermann's a MSTie - he opened Oddball mentioning Joel's last birthday.

Leave him alone.   ;)

No, he was definitely referring to the original movie as he mentioned that it was birthday of the star of the movie, then mentioned the movie from the 70's.  I think it was arthur hill.

Maybe we should call Keith up, remind him of his error and go "GUH!" (sportscenter reference).

But since he is a MYSTY, I will leave it along.
