They might want to continue, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea. You can only ride a horse for so long before it collapses beneath you. I don't hold the old episodes on a pedastal at all. In fact, I think the 2010 season and Bender's Big Score were the best things Futurama has done. For my money, the two best episodes are The Late Philip J. Fry and Prisoner of Benda, hands down. But since 2011, I have to say that I think the entire thing has been forced. It just hasn't been as good as it used to be, it happens, and I really think it's time to let the Futurama legacy be what it is.

That happened to me once. Such a sad day. I'll miss Bridger for the rest of my life.
...and there he was, reigning supreme at number two.  The One... The Only... The Unabeefer.

My only real problem with a big-screen theatrical movie is that in order to accomodate the general public, they would have to go back to the beginning and retell the setup for the show.

Yeah, like Serenity did. God I hate that movie.

 :'(
I fucking love that movie.  :speechless:

I just don't see them doing a theatrical release, not sure any studio would back that.  And besides, has there been a 2D animated film since The Simpsons?  Everything these days seems to be Pixar type animation or the occasional stop motion type.

There are so many more ways to release a project now, I'm thinking either Netflix or Amazon Prime, or direct to disc and VOD.

Yep. Princess and the Frog, Winnie the Pooh, Ponyo, The Secret World of Arietty...just to name a few.

I just want to go back to the old days.  When a show was cancelled, you accepted it and didn't revive it over and over and over again.

I liked the ending. I didn't see any of the concerns you guys have about it being left open for another series. It left the idea, in my head, that these characters we have grown to love will continue on in their universe, while we can re-live all their adventures by re-watching the series from the beginning.

I thought it was lovely.

Ha!  It's like they have changed the stages of grief.

Now we've got:

Sad that it's gone
Hope that it might come back.
Anger at the rumors it is coming back but the deals always fall apart.
Concern as time passes that it might come back different.
Fear that it might come back as a horrible movie (AKA: Lone Ranger Syndrome).

So, no acceptance, sorry.  There is a TVLand Zombie Apocalypse joke forming in my head but I don't have time to get the wording sorted out right now...

Funny, *I* want to go back to the old days, where the decision about when to end a story was in the hands of the story*tellers*, instead of the businessmen with strictly commercial motives.

So I guess I'm off to Ancient Greece. Catch you later, modern times!

Futurama is back for a one episode podcast special.  All of the original cast!  Some writers too, I guess!
