Ah yes I had forgotten about the Star Trek on HD DVD. So the price is lowering on those? Paramount always seemed very stingy.

Oh and while I have seen the Xbox HD DVD ROM drop in price here. The HD DVDs themselves haven't, no way I would buy them at full price like the shops still seem to want.

Not sure about Star Trek but for normal movies type in "hd dvd" at Amazon, Deepdiscount, or Best Buy and hopefully you'll find what you want for around 10 dollars per disc

BTW, you heard that the other seasons in HD have been cancelled, right?

And if they're going to go Blu-Ray on the others they'll probably re-issue the first one in the same format, wouldn't they?

As for my last DVD....

By mail.

In person....because I enjoy it.  Good music, beautiful costumes, so-bad-it's-good movie.

BTW, I finally had a chance to listen to songs (with opening lines) from the CD of the Broadway version of this....

I'll stick with the movie, thanks.   Roll Eyes

This month:
Beowulf: Director's Cut (though I bought it before knowing it was going to be riffed- I love animation, and I'm damn sick of kids' cartoons)
Justice League: The New Frontier (the book is leagues better, David Boreanez should never be allowed in front of a mic)
Hardboiled
36th Chamber of the Shaolin
Rumble in the Bronx
Airplane!
Escape from New York

I have a quick question about that Star trek boxset.

On the normal DvD side of the disc are the episodes remastered and cleaned up with the new SFX like the HD side or are they the same dirty and scratched prints that where on the old Dvd boxsets?

I ask because I am starting to see those boxsets cheap and even though I don't have an HD Disc player it would be worth buying that one again if the normal Dvd side is cleaned up.

Thanks for your time.

Yes, the SD side is cleaned up, which is actually the one thing I didn't like. I wish that they would've done the cleaning up and the CGI for the HD side, but left the SD side regular for the sake of nostalgia. Beg my pardon, but sometimes I don't wanna watch the Gorn fucking blink. That seems like one of the stupidest extraneous special of the entire DVD. I find solitude in the campiness of Old Star Trek, and I wish they would've made that option available, seeing as they already had the cleaned up version on the HD side.

I picked it up off Craigslist for $30. I figured why not, since I only own season 3 on DVD, and the price for the season 1 dvd around the net was about the same as what I got the hd-dvd for.

Folks, hold off on opening those Beowulf DVDs, or at least make sure you have your receipt. They may be on sale on Sunday.

My wife bought me Beowulf last week. Unfortunately it wasn't the unrated directors cut and we have already opened it. I guess I am going to have to buy another copy.

Just picked up my Beowulf copy, but luckily it's still sealed with the receipt taped to it.  How much are we expecting this price to drop for this "sale" and what store(s) is(are) involved?

Well I guess they figured that since they had already released the episodes with no clean up twice that people would be mad if they did it again.

I know what you are saying but this seems like one of those time when there was no way for Paramount(and believe me I am no fan of theirs)to win,if they had do it the way people like you wanted it people like me would be upset.  This is why I will always keep my SD DvDs.

Thanks for the info.

I really want to pick up this set now.

Thanks again.

Well, it looks like Target will have Beowulf on sale on Sunday for $15.99.... but it appears to be only on the Theatrical cut. It's possible that your local Target might have the Director's cut on sale as well,  but that's a YMMV thing. So for the most part, this was a false alarm. My bad.

I can't remember the last time I bought a movie, last one I rented though was Lake Placid, which wasn't that good.
