My boss loves the place and has treated me and my team to lunch there more than once. It's actually not THAT bad. It's buffet food, on par with any other buffet I've been to. (Except the fancy ones in Vegas.)

I have though it's been a few years back with my late wife and I agree with Pak that it's not too bad..
Had planned to go there on past Veteran's days when they offer a free meal to all vets but the line is always out the door so I continue to pass on by.

My family went to Ponderosa a lot when I was a kid. I like it. I don't think I've ever been to Bonanza, but we go to Hoss's on vacation and it is excellent.

Unfortunately the Ponderosa in Cortland NY near my parents closed several years ago, so I haven't been to it in quite a while.
There are no Ponderosa nor Bonanza steakhouses (which are under the same owner) in the Carolinas..
Closest ones are in Virginia.
Texas Roadhouse seems to be the dominant steakhouse here :o

Sorry to break up the fun but... why do the guys hate Golden Corral so much? I mean I can't recall ever having any kind of bad experience or food all the times I have gone there. :o
We touched on that way earlier in the thread, but I've noticed that almost every comedian has that go-to restraint that they love to use as a punchline. Conan O'Brien loves to razz Olive Garden, Taco Bell and McDonalds are frequent targets of comedians the world over. Golden Corral has Mediocre (Not horrible) Food, and it's also a buffet so you eat a lot of it, so it lends itself very well to this running gag.
