So, you know Kyle Kallgren, that jerk who used to post here but is now some hoity toity internet celebrity and is too good to slum with us lowlifes?
Yeah, well he's trying to fund his Master's project so he's tossed up a project that's "a short film that's a cross between a screwball comedy and a dark political thriller (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/oancitizen/election-cycle-a-political-satire-with-time-travel)" involving time travel and debate performance.
I suspect it'll get funded anyway, but here's a chance to support it.
Not sure if this was intended as a general catch-all for Kickstarters that look interesting, but here is one:

A puppet (looks like mostly marionette and rod puppets) gothic ghost story.
This is an old one and completely funded, but check it out! The world's biggest choose-you-own-adventure from the creator of Dinosaur Comics! With art by Kate Beaton and MANY MANY MORE!
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/breadpig/to-be-or-not-to-be-that-is-the-adventure?ref=live
BTW, anyone know how to properly embed the videos?
Whoa.
A Veronica Mars movie. (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/559914737/the-veronica-mars-movie-project) Yes, with Kristen Bell.
They need 2 million. And within hours of launch, they've gotten 750,000 of that.
Oh, and if they don't get 3 million, Logan Echolls is going to die in the film.
And it's funded. Good to see the guy from Matchbox 20 got his movie funded.
(Fun Rifftrax fact: the show made a reference to "The Room" in season 3 long before anyone else in the country knew about Mr. Wiseau's opus, 2 years before Adult Swim aired it for April Fool's.)
Are Kickstarters for the general public, or just for big idea/entertainment sorts of things? Or like the Save Walter White fund?
I have talked about starting up a small scale food truck in Lancaster city but of course I have zero funds with which to begin. My daughter thinks we should do a Kickstarter campaign and go from there. The thing is, we'd need probably around $25k just to start, and frankly, who would care? It's not like anyone would really benefit from it.
Yeah, regular people can do Kickstarters. I say go for it.

Indiegogo fundraiser to help former pro wrestler get a much needed hip replacement surgery. A lot of those guys tear up their bodies and end up like Scott with no health insurance. I have enjoyed watching pro wrestling over the years and Scott was always one of my favorites. Donated $60 ($30 for the T-Shirt and $30 for the phone call).
DDP (who is fast approaching wrestling sainthood) is doing amazing work in helping Scott (and Jake the Snake Roberts) work through their health and addiction issues.
So anyway, if you are a fan of the wrasslin', you may want to chip in a bit. :)
ESPN story on Scott from a year or so ago talking about the fall of the once great wrestler.
A bunch of my friends bands have done kickstarters.
And then there was these guys who wanted to make fun of a crappy vampire movie or something?

There's a week left in this Kickstarter for the documentary "Stripped", about the history of comic strips in newspapers, the internet, and whatever other formats you find them in. Includes a catchy song by Kate Micucci of Garfunkel and Oates, and interviews with a number of cartoonists ranging from Bill Amend to Jim Davis to the Penny Arcade guys to AN AUDIO INTERVIEW WITH BILL MOTHERFUCKING WATTERSON, so it looks like it should be a lot of fun.

Forgive the callback to the MST3k riff, this is an all-puppet remake of Manos. In this case, they've done this in play form before (In 2011) but they're restaging it and filming it so that folks all across the country can see it. And a download of the film is at the $5 level, so hey, go for it.

Bumping this one: it has a few days to go, and still needs funding. It's well past the halfway point, but he still needs about $1,500! This is the first kickstarter that I supported! Yay for me!
I think I liked it better when creative projects relied on wealthy benefactors.

If anyone is interested, the final volume of "Ray Harryhausen - Master of the Majicks" is still available for preorder. I believe the previous two sold out WAY before they shipped. Odd as it may be, the final volume is volume 1. I think that is because they wanted the 'meatier' film work to be the first book released so that backing would be there for them (until people saw how incredible the books were, it would be hard to get enough people to part with the money these books cost to produce if the content was just his early, pre-feature, work). Volume 1 is his start in film, and now will have words about his death.
I have both the prior two (as well as the book reprinting all of the FXRH issues [which I have originals of for all but the first]). These books, though pricey ($80+shipping), are absolutely gorgeous. They are huge, and heavy (5 lbs), and are packed with so many photos and so much information they are overwhelming. I have this pre-ordered, and just thought others might be interested.
Picture is link to the main website page for this final volume:

It's a spiritual successor to The Neverhood, and Mike Nelson is slated to voice-act. You can also get a commentary featuring Mr. Nelson if you donate enough, so there's that...
I was on board with this as soon as they said "Terry Taylor is doing the soundtrack again".
Adding in Mike & all the others is just an added bonus. I'm just having trouble deciding on which package I want.
I REALLY wanna go $125 on this one, but I don't know if I can justify it, financially. I suppose the responsible(ish) thing to do is to donate at the $20 early-bird price and then upgrade later if I find a $100 bill under my cushions. :^)

Yeah the $125 bundle is the one I'm leaning towards as well since I'm still a big fan of physical media. (Mainly I want the physical copy of the soundtrack. Otherwise I'd go for the $75 bundle) I'm sure they will have copies of it on DanielAmos.com at some point but...

So, Fred Gallagher just announced a Kickstarter for a Megatokyo visual novel (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fredrin/megatokyo-visual-novel-game?ref=home_popular).
For those not in the know, Megatokyo is one of the longer running webcomics on the net, having started in 2000 (and I think almost two whole days have passed int he strip now.) And since fred was heavily inspired by visual novels, well, yeah, this makes sense.
I fully expect the Feb 2014 release date to slip though. Call it a hunch.

Every Kickstarter I've watched (and I've watched a lot of them now), there's a rather large boost of funding in the past 48 hours (that's when the "remind me" email gets sent out.) If it's at about 75% of the total, it'll make it. Now Kicktraq is projecting it to stall out at 86% of the total, but that seems a little pessimistic. We'll see.
Kicktraq always starts out optimistic, and then gets jaded as the final date approaches. Probably because the usual donation pattern is more of an inverted arch than a straight line. Right now it stands at $682,000, which is more than 75%. $200,000 is a lot to scrounge up in 3 days, though. Fingers crossed.
Also there's a stretch goal to release it on the WiiU if it gets to $950,000. So all you WiiU owners out there, (I know who I are!) there's one more reason to pledge. :^)

I'm planning on picking one up hopefully in another month or so. Knowing that Armikrog will be on it eventually (I hope) might make me purchase it a little sooner...
33 hours to go on Armikrog and less than $100k to go. I suspect it'll end up around $950k, but that's just my estimate. We'll see.
Well, I wouldn't say it is something I want to back and the humour doesn't quite work, but this is kind of neat Cosmo Kramer style idea: custom trophies for whatever.

Kind of curious what the business model will be for this kind of novelty gift. I suppose it would make it easier for smaller local contests to have trophies? I mean, I don't know where people get trophies to begin with.

RAIDERS of R'LYEH is a horror adventure tabletop roleplaying game and Mythos sandbox inspired by H.P. Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard.
Quote
I am incredibly excited to announce RAIDERS of R'LYEH.
RAIDERS of R'LYEH is a stand-alone roleplaying game and sourcebook in which mercenary rogues EXPLORE FORBIDDEN FRONTIERS, UNEARTH ANCIENT ARTIFACTS, and OUTWIT VILLAINOUS SCUM. Derived partly from the Runequest rules that have been released under the Open Game License, the game is crafted to emulate not only adventure in the Cthulhu Mythos of H.P. Lovecraft and his circle of influences, but especially the savage and evocative feel of Robert E. Howard's Mythos and Weird menace stories.
Attention has been made to keep the game mechanics compatible with other percentile systems — while innovating additional rulesets unique to the setting and atmosphere — so those players wishing only to use RAIDERS of R'LYEH as an Edwardian era adventure sourcebook will have a massive global setting to explore and use in their preexisting Mythos campaign, as well as modular adventure, monster and scenario resources for gaming in 1900-1913. Those players wanting a standalone rulebook with its adventure modes of play, will have a complete toolkit for interacting with the Cthulhu Mythos.
Lastly, and most importantly, RAIDERS of R'LYEH is the first Mythos game set up for and supportive of SANDBOX PLAY!
RAIDERS OF R'LYEH IN GOTHIC BLACK & WHITE (PRINT AND PDF)
The PRINT EDITION (RAIDERS OF R'LYEH IN GOTHIC BLACK & WHITE) is designed for players who want ALL of the rules in one convenient & beautful tome.
RAIDERS OF R'LYEH IN GOTHIC BLACK & WHITE comes with EVERYTHING NEEDED TO PLAY THE GAME, including: the CORE RULES, the Adventurer Archetypes, the Keeper Section (How to Run the Game, How to Sandbox the Mythos, the Mythos and Monsters, Magic, Occultism & Sorcery, Patrons & Factions, Dozens of Adventure Templates), the 1910 Era Sourcebook (Travel, Weapons & Equipment Lists, Mounts, The Mythos & Weird in 1910, Hotspots, Name Lists, NPC Stats), and a Growing Appendix Full of Ruin Maps, Mansion Maps, Wilderness, Automobile & Road Stats, NPC Stats for Regions All Over the World, and more. Also available as a convenient PDF. ESTIMATED PAGE COUNT: 256 pages!
The core rules comes with a vast assortment of toolkits to build and run your own exploratory sandbox game set in the Mythos...

Things that amuse me about this: People just shown saying Ayn Rand with only a hint of context. I mean, these are videos of people who agree with Ayn Rand (well, sort of. I think the closest to REALLY taking everything to heart might be Penn Jillette, since he is also an atheist as well as an objectivist), so why only give the name and very little context on the actual influence.
"You've got to do things for yourself, not let other people make it happen." Like fundraising?
There's a sketch of a tent covered building with a regular Randian message on it. Is it supposed to be impressive in the book, because it makes me wonder why someone even bothered to draw it.
EDIT: Oh, and apparently the movie is already fully funded so... why?
I like that they actually defend the idea on the kickstarter page, saying that Rand wasn't actually against giving to a cause you believe in.
So giving to a movie sequel is a cause worthy of believing in, but helping those in need is a no-no.
Can I start and anti-fundraising campaign on Kickstarter? Like, if I reach $X amount can I say one of the kickstarter projects can't happen?

Help Mary Jo Pehl create a CD of original songs that pay homage to the films of Mystery Science Theater 3000!
Hello! My name is Mary Jo Pehl.
You may know me as the the leggy (-ish), blonde (kinda) co-star (sorta) of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Cinematic Titanic.
I am recording an album of original songs that pay homage to bad movies of Mystery Science Theater 3000.
After the phenomenal, chart-topping success of "When Loving Lovers Love" from the episode "Overdrawn At The Memory Bank", tens and tens of people clamored for more.
And so, the Chanteuse of Cinema is back.
I will be singing four or five imagined theme songs to such MST3K favorites as Mitchell, Space Mutiny, Eegah, and of course, Manos, The Hands of Fate.
The songs will be written by veteran Twin Cities musicians Michael Warren, Claudia Hankin, and Tony Balluff, and performed by yours truly in a variety of genres such as power pop, ballad, pop-country, and perhaps a duet even a very special guest singer (wink!).
We will be making this CD available online, available as a download, and at any of my appearances. One or two may also be featured in a solo show that I have been developing over the past couple of years, a version of which debuted in Austin, TX in 2011.

A kickstarter for a video game about the 1979 Iran revolution. This is potentially exploitative, but it actually sounds really fascinating and I think it could be an amazing game. It's certainly a bold game to adapt a historical event for a game. Of all the mediums, it could be the riskiest since the point of a game is generally to "have fun". Still, there are some great games that challenge that notion, most notably the acclaimed "Spec Ops: The Line", which deconstructs war games.

So, you probably know that I'm the Board Chair for Magenta Giraffe Theatre Company, and if you don't know that, I'm the Board Chair for Magenta Giraffe Theatre Company. The mission and the work of MGT is very important to me.
Right now we have a campaign going on to raise money for one of our key programs - Shakespeare in Prison,
Shakespeare in Prison is a program facilitated by Magenta Giraffe Theatre Company at Women's Huron Valley Correctional Facility in Ypsilanti, Michigan. It empowers inmates through theatre exercises and Shakespearean text to think creatively, re-examine decisions they've made, become more in touch with their emotions, and develop crucial skills which will be useful for life both in and out of prison.
I attended one of the performances at the end of the last session and I posted to the blog afterwards saying: "...the thing that struck me most was not the performance per se but rather the sense of happiness and achievement that emanated from all the participants. It could be seen in the slight self-deprecation from Prospero as her friends praised her performance, in the reaction and conversation between Trinculo and members of the audience before and after the performance, in the keenness of the cast to set up and get things going prior to our arrival. It would not be surprising to discover that happiness isn't in surplus abundance for the participants in the program, but their involvement in it provides that and, moreover, seems to provide a sense of palpable accomplishment. This, beyond all else, is the greatest benefit of the program; it provides growth and success to those who may not have known either to any great degree previously."
If you can give that would be awesome and I would be very grateful but, if you can't, please share this with your networks and friends (feel free to quote me in emails) so that more people learn of the campaign, and of the great work being done in the Shakespeare in Prison program.
Thank you.

For fans of Beat the Geeks, TV Geek Paul Goebel is trying to get the next big thing off the ground: Ubergeek. In the original Beat the Geeks, some of the material had to be dumbed down for the contestants. QuoteThe Kickstarter Potato Salad Guy Just Lost Nearly $30,000
The Huffington Post
Posted: 07/10/2014 10:33 am EDT Updated: 4 hours ago
Is the potato salad party already over?
Not quite yet, but the campaign appears to have lost nearly $30,000 overnight. On Wednesday evening, the guy who started the project, Zack Brown, had more than $70,000 with which to make his salad. On Thursday morning, that number had fallen to $43,984.
So what happened? It's hard to know -- Brown did not immediately respond to a request for comment and hasn't posted any updates to the project's homepage. One possibility is that people regret donating their hard-earned dollars to the campaign and are canceling their pledges.
Kickstarter's rules discourage, but do not prohibit, people from taking back their donations.

He's an idiot, and people are willing to give him money. As one guy I know said, he hit the Kickstarter lottery. Way to go, and the only thing proven is the old David Hannum adage, "There's a sucker born every minute." Good job, suckers, continue pissing away your money. Do I wish every one of these people would give their money to a worthier goal? Sure. I can think of at least one GoFundMe campaign (http://www.gofundme.com/auc234) right now that I wish would get every cent of it. But we can't demand people do worthy things with their money or time. We can only encourage it and hope they will.
It happens every now and then. Sometimes people on the Internet from all walks of life come together with one unified goal: To say "Derrrrrrr...."
Why the insults? It's just some guy who thought he'd do something silly on Kickstarter. He clearly didn't take it seriously, or try to scam anybody, that's why the original goal was $25! And it just snowballed on him.
That's sort of my feelings towards it too. I'm assuming everyone that pledged more than $2 will remove it in the end, but that means he could still end up with a couple grand for making a dumb joke. Which is good for him, IMO. Kid just managed to put a down payment on a car or pay some student loans or whatever because a bunch of people saw his joke, laughed, and decided to give him a buck. I don't think anyone is going to say "well, I was going to support this game/movie/etc, but that dollar I gave to that potato salad guy expended my entertainment budget"
Well we all need to think of something brilliant that people will support 8)
Oh, I'm not insulting Potato Salad guy. I'm insulting the menality that says, "Hey, wouldn't it be hilarious if I gave this guy my money?"

And moving on from Potato salad guy (still at 50k!), we head towards Yogscast.
Two years ago, Yogscast had a very successful Kickstarter for an adventure game (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/winterkewlgames/yogventures) with a final total of $567,000. It entered beta last August and today, well, it got cancelled. The development team basically said that they ran out of money and it's probably a good thing since the project had gotten too big for their 6 person team and it likely wouldn't have ended up being very good. That may not hae been the brightest thing to say.
Needless to say, the backers seem a bit annoyed about the situation.
The Yogscast folks are offering a free game to compensate, but again, that's not mollifying some of the backers. Granted, Yogscast technically doesn't need to offer refunds because a) Kickstarter rules and b) they weren't the people who launched the Kickstarter in the first place. But a high dollar failure like this (the 39th most funded video game project by my count) is going to just add fuel to the "Kickstarter is just a giant scam" fire.

Here is the Kickstarter for the band Luxury:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2019093747/luxury-documentary-biography-autobiography
They are looking to make a documentary about their life. It's a really crazy story & definitely documentary worthy.
QuoteTHE BAND: Luxury is a band that began in the 1990's in the small town of Toccoa GA, but from the start, it was clear that their aspirations and influences were elsewhere. Sounding like Fugazi or Shudder to Think fronted by a younger, more vicious Morrissey, they were an anomaly, in Toccoa, or almost anywhere. They brought together such disparate influences that one could barely imagine them co-existing in a band, much less pulling it off as a thoroughly distinctive sound. The English melodicism laid on top of such pummeling instrumentation was a study in contrasts, but it was of a piece, as there was enough of the melodic in the instruments and enough brutality in the lyrics and vocal delivery that it hung together, just so. As singer, Lee Bozeman describes it, "I write these beautiful, nice songs, and then the band destroys them." Upon the release of their first record, Amazing and Thank You (1995), Luxury seemed poised to move to another level, but a wreck in the summer of 1995 (with tour-mates and fellow Georgians, Piltdown Man) had the opposite impact. All told, there were 3 broken necks between both bands, with Bozeman sustaining the most devastating internal injuries. The wreck changed their fortunes as well (evidently) as their ambitions. With each successive record, there was a greater sense of self-reflection in Bozeman's lyrics, and the music followed that deepening maturity, all the while maintaining the fundamental dichotomy of soaring melodies on top of angular post-punk instrumentation. The first record was essentially a document of their live shows, which were remarkable events in their intensity and the band's posture of defiance directed even at their own audience. On successive records, though, Luxury learned to use the studio as an instrument. While, on the first record Bozeman asks "So, what do you expect from life?" he seems to have spent each of the following records seeking to answer that very question.
Causation is a notoriously slippery force to get one's hands around. Yet, humanly speaking, it is hard not to point to the wreck of 1995 when hoping to understand how three members of Luxury are now Eastern Orthodox priests (the other two members are an ordained Presbyterian [PCA] elder and an occasional Lutheran board of directors member, surely cementing their status as one of the most ordained bands in history). Now, it is doubtlessly a noteworthy fact that members of a band went on to become priests, as members of most bands are obliged to go on and do something different with their lives. But what can it mean for a band led by priests to continue making records? On their newly recorded fifth album, Trophies, the lyrical themes may be said to be further musings on the expectations and memories of life. But as with prior Luxury records, spiritual concerns are obliquely addressed, if at all. So does Luxury sound anything like a band full of priests? There are several legitimate answers:
1. Who can say? There are no others.
2. Self-evidently they do. For they are.
3. No. They don't even sound like Christians.
(Their new album "Trophies" that is coming out fairly soon is REALLY good. I got an early copy of it & it's in heavy rotation at our house.)

Mr. Shatner? The state of California has a budget of about $113 billion this fiscal year. Maybe you might want to talk to Governor Brown about you know, funding stuff. I would think that not dying of thirst might take a higher budget priority than other items in the budget.

I guess he's not going to go with CGI and will need to lease a studio and rebuild all the sets? That's the only reason I can think of for it to cost that much to start up the show again.
I can't watch the video since I'm at work, so maybe he answered it there. But maybe they are looking to licence more recognized movies, and that's why it costs so much.
Point of reference: The average episode of Game of Thrones costs 6 Million. The average 30-minute sitcom pilot costs between 1.3 and 3 million. Joel is trying to make 3 episodes with that first 2 million.

Part of the reason they made MST3K the way they did originally was because it wasn't very expensive to make. Yeah, that will be more now due to inflation, and not having the existing studio space. The only thing I can think of is if he wants it to be more elaborate, a la Other Space, with more sets and stuff. If that's what he's doing, that would feel like an evolution of the original show.
I'm all for him trying this. And I will certainly check it out if it gets made. But I have 198 episode of MST3K, Rifftrax, Rifftrax Live, and many different iRiff groups. I am happy with the state of riffing nowadays.

What Backer level is that?
$200 gets you a Blu-ray of every episode, however many they end up making. (If they get to 5.5 Million, they'll make a whole 12 episodes, which implies that most of the first 2 million is start up costs...)
It's tempting but if it ends up only being 3 episodes that would blow. I'm holding off until later before I kick any towards it.
I do wonder if all the Kickstarters that Rifftrax has done already will take some of the wind from his sails.
And I did see that he said the old MST3K alumni would be "invited" back. I would be surprised if Mike, Kevin and Bill would actually join up in this. Maybe a cameo, tops.
It kinda sounds like J Elvis talking in the cameo theater parts of the vid..

I'm good with voices and that isn't Josh. Don't know who the human or Tom is. Crow sounded kinda like Trace, but seemed a tiny bit off.
Since he hasn't announced casting, they might all be fillers, or Joel might be testing them out for reactions..
And $300,000...

It's tempting but if it ends up only being 3 episodes that would blow. I'm holding off until later before I kick any towards it.
More logically, pledge for the full set, and reduce/cancel your pledge if they don't make it.
If everyone did what you propose, they won't make the goal.

I don't disagree. I would do that if I hadn't been out of work for the past month.
Fair enough!

You don't get charged until the end, and only if it meets the minimum goal.
Just use the reminder feature, Kickstarter will send an email 2 days before the deadline, if it looks like they are going to make all of the episodes then pledge the amount needed to get the set. And by then maybe there will be better rewards. That's what I'm doing, I think there's a good chance the minimum is going to be met, just a question of how far it will go into the stretch goals.

Or pledge first, use the reminder feature to check if you want to keep the pledge, as, as I said, if people do what you are suggesting, you keep the tally below what it would be. And if you have no way of knowing how many people are doing the same, how will you know what it will actually hit?
I thought Kickstarter had a thing where you can't pull your investment after it's been funded (Which could very well happen tomorrow). Or maybe that's only if your pull-out would bring the kickstarter back below goal. Something to look into, at least...

I just think it's worse to say you are supporting something and then take it way, if too many people do that then the total drops at the end instead of going up.

I only propose you doing that if your concern is you want it to reach a certain point, not if you are on the fence with backing. If they aren't producing enough episodes for it to give you the value of your pledge, why would you give them the money?

I just looked it up, that rule where you can't cancel only applies to the last 24 hours.
Well, I backed it. I don't care if I get three or thirty episodes. More riffing from funny people is great, and I love supporting artists that I enjoy. I somehow doubt we'd get twelve episodes, to be honest, but who knows? They are almost 50% there after the first day.
Almost to a million. It will taper off after the first day, as they all do. But with 30 more days to go, I wouldn't be surprised if this makes it. And if they do only end up making the 3 episodes, shouldn't that be enough to shop around to studios for them to pick it up? I know he probably wanted to own the rights to it and do it independently, but as long as the studio isn't going to change it a lot (which given it's fanbase they'd be foolish to try), it'd be better than nothing.
I think as they announce some of the people involved, it will get little boosts. And maybe they will announce some movies too?
Here's another pretty cool Kickstarter:

They even did an awesome 80s style commercial for it:
The Kickstarter for the Dragon's Lair movie was just canceled, they are moving the project to Indiegogo in December.
Not sure why they would bother to cancel it instead of just let it time out and not get funded, they were only half way to their goal with about a day left. Not sure I'd fund anything on Indiegogo, they only seem to have minimal consumer protections in place, lots of complaints about them.
The Star Trek Renegades Episode 2 and 3 Kickstarter is about 3/4 of the way to their goal with 8 days left, hope they make it.
The only reason to switch to indiegogo is to move to flexible funding. Very few reasons to go from KS to Indiegogo. I never saw any promotion for that KS, seems they did a pretty terrible job.

Finally, I can BE crazy without LOOKING crazy!
Some gems from the campaign:
QuoteWe are not saying that it protects 100% against all kinds of electromagnetic waves that are bad for your health, what we are saying is that if you care about yourself, be smart and put on this first signal proof apparel instead of the usual one - no one will spot it and it will protect you. Maybe once it will pay off.
Ooooh. I getcha!
QuoteMany people are asking about signals that come through other parts of head and hit the inside of the reflective cap, then pass back through the brain a second time or stay inside and multiply their power - This is ridiculous.
Hey, remember this?

It's $42.50, plus shipping, at Cool Stuff Inc. (http://www.coolstuffinc.com/p/215816) right now as part of their year end sale. Shipping will be pricey though as that sucker is heavy. It's also the retail version, so will lack all the Kickstarter only stuff.
Oh, and while looking for my post, I found my reference to the Megatokyo Visual Novel, which I had forgotten about . As I suspected, it's still not done. Predicting that Megatokyo is late is about as risky as betting that the sun comes up.

Unfortunately they didn't make their goal, so this isn't happening (at least right now). It's a shame, it looked really neat.
So, remember the Rifftrax Manos liveshow? It had this in it:
Yeah, that got cancelled two years ago. There were apparently some issues around the filming of it.

Just a reminder- The Manos sequel Kickstarter ends today, if you'd like to contribute. It's been funded already, but some of the stretch goals will make it, ahem, a "better" film.
Was checking Kickstarter and noticed in their "featured" section a documentary on Frank Zappa. I also noticed the director, a Mr. Alex Winter, aka Bill S. Preston.
He's been directing for years, but I'm always amused to see his name pop up. Anyway. Zappa doc. Might want to fund it.
Compound: Watch the movie Grand Piano. It's a silly but very fun thriller and Winter plays a key role. Very fun.

Frankly, I'm more a fan of the music (If I were 20-30 years younger, I think the show totally would be my jam) but it did have some great guest stars, killer musical numbers, an appearance by Strong Bad (except not) and a killer theme song.

I jumped all over that as soon as it launched!
Fingers crossed for a super successful campaign!
Doesn't appear to be doing that well.
Yeah, I was afraid of that. A million bucks is a lot to ask for. Hopefully they'll get closer during the last few days but at halfway through and not half-funded, this doesn't look too good.
EDIT: They more or less admitted things aren't looking good and are going to reboot the kickstarter to a much more reasonable goal. It works for me, as it looks like it's only 100,000 to get to a new album, then everything after that is gravy. As stated, I'm more interested in a new album than a new show, so this works well for me.
