Chaos

Frankly, I wish they would just scrap the damn thing and do a Batman Begins-esque (ish?) reboot. But they can't, because Marvel doesn't have the rights, or something. Bastages.

I think it'd be sweet if they did the sinister six and maybe throw Black Cat in or a non-Affleckian Daredevil.  They could easily do Vulture, Rhino, Scorpion, Kraven, Beetle & Shocker.  Have some rich invester get some goons together, do some experiments on them and bam: The Sinister Six then maybe do Lizard & Mysterio in a fifth film.

Quote"Spider-Man" director Sam Raimi told Sci-Fi Wire that he's waiting on a script for a fourth installment from writer James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Rundown) before deciding whether to helm it, though he'd like to.

"Right now James Vanderbilt is writing the script, and he's working on it, and I'm excited to read it," said Raimi. "I think it's going to be done in a few months. I'm hoping it's as great as our discussions were about it and hoping it feels right for me, because I love Spider-Man, and I'm hoping I'm well-enough rested to, like, really embrace it and hoping that Sony wants me at that time to direct it. So if all those things come together, I would love, love to do it. But this is a lot of unknowns about the future."

Asked whether he'd recast the roles of Peter Parker or Mary Jane Watson, ho have each moved on to other projects, Raimi demurred. "Well, I hate to recast anybody in the picture," he said.

In another interview with IESB, JK Simmons, who portrays J. Jonah Jameson in the "Spider-Man" films, told the site that he believes that Tobey Maguire would return for a fourth film. "I spoke to Tobey in, I guess it was February," said Simmons. "And, y'know, he's certainly amenable to doing some more and hopefully we'll be able to get everybody back and make another good one."

Simmons added that if Raimi were to return to the franchise, he would as well. "If he's involved, hopefully directing or at least as a producer then I'm pretty confident that it would be something that I want to do. Plus they pay money."

I hereby pronounce "non-Affleckian" my new word of the day.  (Even if I'm several days late in seeing it)  Thank you Mr. L.

QuoteRecently, we have been hit with lots of "Spider-Man" news, including rumors about the casting for the fourth installment and a possible Venom spin-off movie. Now, DeadlineHollywoodDaily has received word from its sources that both Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi will be returning to the franchise.

This news is only a few weeks old, since Sony Pictures co-chairman Amy Pascal was previously looking to replace Maguire in case the star of the first three films decided not to return. "She was looking around to cover herself because Sony wanted him badly and Tobey wasn't sure he wanted to do it," an insider explained.

And Mary Jane Watson will be coming back as well. If Kirsten Dunst decided to reprise her role, Sony would be glad to have her. "Sony would never recast her."

And don't expect the fourth film to be dark like "The Dark Knight" or even "Spider-Man 3." "Sam Raimi made the first serious superhero movie, and others followed," said the source. "The difference between Spider-Man and Batman is that Batman is duelling with a dark side of himself, and that's not what Peter Parker's struggle is. Peter Parker has no dark side himself. In Spider-Man 3 it was the black costume. Peter Parker's struggle is about sacrifice."

The source added that the studio is still choosing the villain, but "once you find out who the villain is, you'll know who's playing it." That should lead to speculation that Dylan Baker's character of Dr. Curt Connors will ultimately turn into The Lizard as he did in the comic books. There's one other character that's been set up but is a real longshot -- Daniel Gillies, who plays John Jameson, the astronaut fiance of Mary Jane in "Spider-Man 2." In the comics he becomes the villain Man-Wolf. Raimi has said in the past that he wants the best actors to play the villains in the movie, not necessarily the most famous.

And regarding the rumor that "Spider-Man 4" and "Spider-Man 5" may be shot simultaneously is looking more and more likely. It is cost effective and "it wasn't so easy to get everybody back together."

Ah yes, the real reason Spider-Man 3 sucked.  Too long to go without Bonesaw.  I could take him sitting out of part 2, but to go two whole movies without him was a huge mistake.  Just give the man his own Scorpion King like spinoff movie and watch the cash roll in!

After some of the discussions on here, I'd like to see Mysterio appear in the series as he'd bring something different to the story.  Perhaps Mastermind as well, but he's not that well known.

Pak-Man

In Spider-Man 4, it will be revealed that Bonesaw killed Uncle Ben. Also, he becomes the Vulture. :^)
