Except it will have Jason so it is not really a re-make of the first one. Maybe there will be some prologue action for the bits with Jason's mom.

QuoteScreenGeeks got the chance to talk to Nana Visitor ("Star Trek: Deep Space Nine"), who revealed that she will be playing Pamela Voorhees, the mother of Jason, in the upcoming "Friday the 13th" remake. According to the actress, she will not be in the movie for long.

Giving a clue as to how her screen time ends, Visitor stated: "I'll be in it just long enough to get decapitated, get my fingers cut off and have [Jason] cradling my head."

She added that in preparation for her role, a mold of head has already been made. The film hits theaters on February 13th, 2009

Loved this from Bloody Disgusting:
Quote"The designer carries the mask from LA in a steel case, takes it to the airport. [Airport security] runs it through and it looks like a hockey mask - and they say 'Were going to have to take you in the back.' When they get in the back they ask him 'Is that Jason Voorhees' mask?!' They pretty much flipped out asking to take photos with it, which obviously they couldn't."

Which obviously they couldn't WHY? Is it a holy relic now? It's a bloody hockey mask. Not even "the" one, just "a" one.

QuoteIESB scored themselves a great interview with the "Friday the 13th" remake filmmakers, who revealed the direction they will take Jason Voorhees into.

In the original movie, Jason only showed up for one scene, while his mother was doing the killing. In the sequel, he wore a sack over his head and in the third, fans finally got to see their favorite maniac in a hockey mask. The remake will take some of those parts and combine everything into one film.

"I think we tried to take elements from all three of those movies to create one reboot of Friday the 13th and I think we take the elements where you will see Jason put the hockey mask on for the first time - how and why," producer Brad Fuller revealed. "And you'll see him actually do it not just come out with it."

According to the filmmakers, in this new film, we'll see both Sack Jason and Hockey Mask Jason. In addition, there are two shots of Jason putting on the mask; one from the front and one from behind. It is still unclear which one will end up in the film, but Fuller believes that it is the "from behind" shot that will be shown.

I find it VERY weird that that any Friday movie is considered above being remade but it's always been my least favourite horror franchise.

Meh, there's plenty of new ideas.

I'm just so sick of sequels and remakes.

I'm not bothered by them, I want to watch entertaining movies no matter what they are.

That said, part of the reason I'm excited about seeing THE HAPPENING is because it's probably the first movie since NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN that I'll watch without knowing anything about.
