QuoteSamuel L Jackson has already talked about possible future installments to the recently released "Jumper," and now, Collider got the chance to speak to direct Doug Liman who confirmed the possibility.

"I actually have a ton of ideas for the sequel because this is whole new arena for me and so my mind was in overdrive the whole time and most of the ideas I came up with we either could tease or just save it for a sequel," said Liman. "This power can be used to leave this planet, this power can be used ultimately to go back in time, this power can be used if you go and work for the government you'd be the ultimate Jason Bourne."

Liman's words are hardly a confirmation, but "Jumper" took first during the weekend, earning over $27 million. While that's a decent start, the film has a long way to making back its $85 million budget.

oh, joy...

Who is this hack screenwriter and where do I send his bag of anthrax? (Dear FBI: just kidding.)

Yeah, writing stories that are bad and don't have to make sense as long as they use special effects and Star Wars actors... that is a whole new arena. I can see how that would get your brain working as to the script for the next money-printer.

Doctor Who?

Alright Hollywood you have now proved that you are 100% worthless, the nukes are on their way.

It's not totally useless.  They just need to hire somebody to read the scripts and tell them the truth about how entertaining it is.  So many movies fail on one or two issues.  A comic book fan might have helped them a bit with Jumper by saying the story needs help in three places and get us a real actor or two.  Certainly, potential cool factor and a better lead could have made this movie far better.

Focus groups.

"Yeah, I liked that Hayden kid. He seems like a real person."

"Wow, those whip things were awesome."

"Seeing a movie for free totally rocks."

"Can I have Coke?"

Heh, you think those will be available from TRU, Sharper Image, or The Cutting Edge at the mall.  Seems right up their alley with pseudo martial arts and taser stuff.

BBQ Platypus

You know, I used to be against the war on drugs.  Until now.

We must prevent the sale of large amounts of crack to major Hollywood execs!  It is the only way to stop them!
Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.

Doctor Who?

No i say we send them dump trucks full right up to their doors.

then maybe they will OD and we will not have to deal with these crappy sequels any more.

It's widely established that Hollywood has no new ideas, so I don't see how you could be blaming them for something they could not possibly have created.

QuoteNot only does the "Jumper" DVD hits stores today, but Hayden Christensen has now revealed to the Toronto Sun that a sequel is in the works. "We're talking about it," said Christensen. "I know that they're having those conversations, I hear about them."

When asked whether he would return to reprise his role. "Oh yeah, and I think I probably will," he said.

Director Doug Liman originally planned a movie trilogy based on Steven Gould's novel. Liman spun out a liberal re-imagining of Gould's more personal story about child abuse, which had jumping as a metaphor for escape.

"It was set up to become that -- a trilogy -- if it did well," says Christensen. "And I think they're happy with how it did so they want to make another one. But I don't think they're rushing to get into production."

"Jumper" features Christensen as a slacker with the ability to teleport to anywhere on Planet Earth he can visualize. As he settles into a life of crime, idle sex and indolent self-satisfaction, he discovers there are other Jumpers, as well as religious fanatics called Paladins who are devoted to killing Jumpers as abominations. Suddenly, being an anti-hero Jumper is no longer the easy life.

WHY IS THERE NO RIFFTRAX FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I once made an open offer to John Logan (who "wrote" Star Trek Nemesis and that god awful verison of The Time Machine) to send him a Home Depot gift card if he would then use it to buy enough cement to encase his entire head and therefore never ruin another film....

I can extend that to these guys, too.

Just to amuse you, here's the ad that came in my company of Jumper:

Yes. A tire company. I need a new tire, so I'm tempted to go buy one from General Tire, just to reward them for such an insane sponsorship.
