I think we've derailed.  Can we get back to heaping huge truckloads of contempt on the original target, where it belongs?

Doktor Sleepless

Okay! The last parody film I saw and enjoyed was Spy Hard I reckon.

Aside from the "Weird Al" Yankovic music video as the opening credits, the film doesn't really hold out that well. It suffers from many, many problems, though it's not painful, and it's definitely Friedberg and Seltzer's best spoof (which, obviously, isn't saying much). It has some funny moments, but overall it's a weak film.
This iRiff will only be on sale for another few hours. Get it while it's cheap!

Doktor Sleepless

I enjoyed it. Didn't love it, but I enjoyed it. Parody films themselves can hardly ever be called groundbreaking or amazing. Who watches a parody film expecting smart?

I think the smartest parody I've seen (at least, that I can think of off the top of my head) was Woody Allen's Love and Death.

GLaDOS

Sleeper was a good Woody Allen movie too. Does anybody know if that was a sleeper hit?

See, I never liked that one.  Love and Death however, is brilliant.  "Wheat...fields of wheat..."

QuoteA new poster for the upcoming spoof comedy "Disaster Movie" has been released, featuring a group photo of characters from just about every popular movie that has been released within the last year. There is the Hulk, Iron Man, Juno, Indy, Hellboy, Po Panda, Hancock and many more. The tagline states: "Your favorite movies are going to be destroyed."

Since there is almost never a plot in these spoof comedies, the only thing released by Lionsgate to describe the story is the following: The movie follows the comic misadventures of a group of ridiculously attractive twenty-somethings during one fateful night as they try to make their way to safety while every known natural disaster and catastrophic event - asteroids, twisters, earthquakes, the works – hits the city and their path as they try to solve a series of mysteries to end the rampant destruction.

"Disaster Movie" is directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the duo behind the terrible "Date Movie," "Epic Movie" and "Meet the Spartans." It is scheduled to hit theaters on August 29th.
