Sure he makes shitty movies and is a complete ass, but why would anyone want to stop him making these movies? They're awesomely bad and the fac that's he oblivious to this makes it even more entertaining.  It'd be like signing a petition to stop Ed Wood making movies (if he were still alive).

This is what happens when Harry Knowles starts making movies.

Yeah, but Ed Wood wasn't such an f-tard. Weird as hell, but not a huge pain in the ass like Boll.

Don't get me wrong, I think Boll is an ass too, and I don't want massive success for him.  I just want him to keep on making his shitty little movies that people like me enjoy laughing at.

Are you kidding? House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark are hilarious! Bay is boring.

Ok, I haven't seen those, but those are unintentionally hilarious right, I can enjoy watching Transformers, and I've heard that The Rock and Bad Boys 2 were pretty good (why else would Bad Boys 2 be on Hot Fuzz?)

Because the moment they show in Hot Fuzz is a ridiculous one, I think they parody it later in the movie, don't they? Bad Boys 2 is an overcooked mess.  The Rock's okay, but really only because of the actors in it.

Because unlike Ed Wood, Uwe keeps getting lisenses of movies and stopping us from getting decent versions of movies. If all of his movies were original creations, I'd be a member of the "whatever" crowd probably too.

Well, except that he is such a complete fuckwit.

Bay has made a few movies that I think aren't too bad. I have never yet seen an Uwe movie that didn't make me bleed out of my ears.
FINE

While I think it's impossible to gauge whether the films would've been better in the hands of another director - there's a lot of really terrible video game movies aside from Boll's out there - I believe he's making films that wouldn't have been made otherwise: House of Dead, Alone in the Dark, Bloodrayne and Dungeon Siege have been around for years and their licences were there for the taking by any studio: they just didn't see any future in them.  Tomb Raider was made in 2001, and it was a full two years later that House of the Dead was released, plenty of time for film studios to snap up the choice licences of videogames - looking on the page on imdb, there seem to 30 or so such adaptations planned for the next few years - so I really think that Boll was able to snap these licences up cheaply because no one else wanted them.  Is there really such a massive audience out there for a House of Dead movie? Or a Bloodrayne one?

And I totally think Ed Wood would've done something similar.  He knew enough to bolster his movies with minor celebrities and former stars to get them made after all.

You don't address the total fuckwit part of my arguement.

You're right.  :)

I think it's great he's a total fuckwit for two reasons:

1.  If this were happening to a nice guy, I wouldn't feel so good about destroying his movies when I watch 'em.

2.  I love that he's at least out there with his "fuck-wittery": he's not pretending to be a nice, humble, guy.  He thinks he's a genius, above reproach and deserving of all the praise that should - in his mind - be coming to him.  It's hilarious!  If he wasn't an asshole, we wouldn't have seen either the boxing match he had with Lowtax (I think it was) nor the petition he seems to have generated by his dickery.  Part of me is wondering what he'll do if the signatures reach a million.  If he was a nice guy, it wouldn't be as interesting.

In the spirit of riffing, I'd usually be right behind you, but after seeing 30 minutes of Bloodrayne, I had to turn it off. There are very few movies that elicit that response from me, but that is the one that did it. Sure, the premise was a little flimsy to begin with, but Boll took something that could've been at least a good dumb action/horror movie and just pissed it down the drain. Take the Blade series, for example. Very similar story, but some pretty entertaining movies resulted. I've purposely NOT seen any of Boll's other crap because I really don't even want to waste the time to watch them. Not unless Rifftrax somehow decides to cover one of those turds. Then I suppose I'll have to subject myself to the torture that is Uwe Boll's vision.

And yet, you watched 3 hours of Peal Harbor before turning it off. So which is the lesser evil?
