Looper was my brother's little league coach while Braden was pitching for the Cotuit Kettleers in the Cape League.  Nice to hear he's back on track again and having a decent year.

Cardinals have 5 starting pitchers on the DL now and seem to be specializing on taking short relievers and making them starters.

Hope it holds up until the DL guys come back.

It's unreal, the production the Cards are receiving from the likes of Looper, Wellemeyer, and Lohse.

solomon torres is my hero right now.  last 6 appearances 5 saves 1 win.  0 earned runs.  hope gagne has some setbacks!

After last night, I don't think he's leaving that role anytime soon. It was a dandy of a save (the drama was built up again from our stout defense). As for Gagne, he's hanging out at our facility in Arizona. He'll come back and be our 10 million mop-up dude.

k1, first-place is in my sights!  :D

I keep having brief glimpses of hope followed by horrible nights tossing me back to the almost bottom of the back.

I'm willing to deal Todd Jones for either some Wins or some other catagory I'm getting shelled in.

Wins? If Sabathia ever gets it together, my staff is lethal...

Sabathia
Sheets
Lee
Greinke
Saunders

Toss Utley/Teixeira/Bruce/Martin into the mix, this should be fun to follow throughout the summer. It took all of 24 moves to assemble.  :P

The Crew's over .500! And the Red Sox are 21-5 at Fenway? That's absurd.

Interesting pick by the Brew Crew at #16 in the Draft.  Brett Lawrie's got a decent bat, but I'm not sure he's that great of a catcher defensively.

14 more picks til the Sox choose....

Another slugger, woo!

Power: Check
Defense: *shrugs*

I like the pick, a lot, and where's Earl Weaver when you need him? My team is designed for the 3-run bomb. Everyone in Crew-Nation seems to be pretty psyched over the pick, especially at 16. I'm not kidding myself, the Crew and defense...nah...why start now. :P

We've 3 good catching prospects now, and I can't wait to follow Brett on the farm. Sign him pronto and send him to Helena.

I really thought the Rays would've selected Posey. He's bound to fast-track to the majors. It should be interesting following Pedro Alvarez with the Pirates. He is an immense talent, but from I understand is that they selected him to show the fans that they're serious about winning again. I don't think upper management shared the notion that he has some major holes in his bat. This has potential.

I love draft day. This year we have 6 of the first 62 picks! Do your thing, Jack Z.

We drafted Lenny Dykstra's son, Cutter, with the 54th pick!

I'm on cloud-nine right now, Dykstra is one of my three favorite players of all-time.

I think I saw something like he was looking for a minimum of 8.8 million which kinda priced him out of the Rays sights.

Sox nabbed Casey Kelly in round 1.  Meh.  He can play either Quarterback, Shortstop, or Pitcher.  He doesn't hit all that great from what I've heard, so I'm guessing they're eyeing him as a pitcher.

This has to be one of the strangest Red Sox games I've seen in a long time.

Starts off with a brawl, Coco gets tossed.  Jacoby makes a sweet catch but bends his wrist backwards and has to leave the game.  Youk comes in to play RF.  Then Manny and Youk get in a fight with each other in the dugout.  (Next inning Remy & Orsillo get in a mock fight in the announcing booth) Then Manny tweaks his hamstring and has to leave, so Cash comes in to pinch run and DH.

Cash also being the bullpen catcher, he has to keep running back to the bullpen to warm up the relief pitchers, and then back to the dugout when his at bat is coming up.

It's only the 7th inning and the ONLY player left on our bench is Alex Cora.

To top it off the Sox are still winning 7-1.  You wouldn't think so with all that stuff happening.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Apparently the injury to Adam Wainright's finger (he had to come out of a game on Saturday after six innings) is a ruptured tendon and he will be out four months.

DAMN, this will make 6 starting pitchers (Carpenter, Mulder, Clement, Wainright, Thomspon, Pinero) on the DL and another starter (Wellmeyer) will have to miss a start or two due to an elbow.

The Cardinals now have:

Looper
Lohse
rookie
rookie
????

as starters!

Still, they are only three behind the Cubs.

Sigh.................

I was away for a few days and am still in 2nd place. Yes!

That was pretty crazy. I was amazed that Coco was able to dodge Shields' knockout punch. That was a helluva punch. He did get clobbered by Gomes shortly thereafter.

That's a total bummer with Wainwright. What's the status on Carpenter, PSL?

Well, maybe better news than last night.   Now they are saying it is a sprain and will not (for now) require surgery!    I hope that is right and not just the doctors blowing smoke.   I expect him out at least 2-4 weeks.

Carpenter is about to start his rehap assignment from his outage due to Tommy John surgery.    He might be back with the club in a month.   I hate to be overly optimistic, but I have never heard of a player to NOT come back from this.

Mulder is about a hopeless case...... he is now in Florida learning a new arm angle to pitch since he cannot raise his arm high enough to reach his old arm angle.   A 30-plus pitcher learning a new throwing motion..... this cannot end well.

TeamRAD

So I'm leaning towards the notion that last year's success @ Minute Maid was an aberration. We're back to our old tricks in Houston, 0-4 already this season. PSL, curse them for me or something.

That's super news about Carpenter.  I'd be overtly optimistic for a full recovery, too.  :)

So Mulder decided to mess w/ his mechanics in lieu of a 3rd shoulder surgery? He should retire.

Finally...I'm going to go off-topic a bit, but do you believe the convicted felon...

Just how ugly do you believe this is going to get? Celtics/Lakers...whatevah....I'm totally kidding, k1.  :)

Just confirming suspicions people have had for years.   :)

All I have to say is that Kobe sure comes across as a cocky s.o.b. who complains more than Youkilis on a called third strike.  But man can he play.

And what was up with nobody being able to hit a free throw last night?  Even Ray Allen was missing and he's one of the best free throw shooters ever.

Seriously though, I imagine there'll be at least 1 scuffle before this is over.  It got a little heated towards the end of it.

Bob

Argh, now Pujols is hurt and will miss at least two weeks....... they dont know if he just strained his calf, or tore something and he will be out longer.

Ten pitches on the DL and now Pujols......our DL team could beat most other teams.

:(
