Only halfway through the ceremony so far, and the thing that stuck out the most was the lack of applause for Julio Lugo.  You could hear the crowd going nuts and then when he came out you hear nothing.  Then Alex Cora comes out to an audible applause over the music.

Maybe that'll teach him to stop making so many stupid errors.  I shouldn't have to yell "Lugo YOU SUCK!" at the tv more than once a game after he bobbles/bounces/drops/boots/misses the ball.

I thought it was no team had gone 0-4 and made it to the World Series, and no team (or was it only 2 teams?) had gone 0-6 and made it to the playoffs.  (I could be wrong on that though.)

But now it's 0-7.  I'm sure they'll turn it around soon enough.

I know for fact, no team that had started out 0-5 made the World Series and was just referencing the present with my 0-6 statement earlier on. Their bats are going to get hot, Granderson will be coming back, but their pitching...that's going to be a scary ride all season long for Tiger Nation. How long until Rick Porcello makes his Tiger debut? Who knows, Dombrowski might trade him for another bat. :)

I hope Baseball Tonight shows a few snippets from the Ring Ceremony today...

...and that the Cubs go through another century w/o having one.

Oh and we got to Cueto for a run!

How depressing, falling from 1st to 7th place in a span of four days. :P

In addition, I decided to give Hart and Milledge the day off today, and in return, they went 7-7.

Finally the god-awful starts by Sabathia, Teixiera, and Martin have caught up to me despite all my constant tinkering. On the bright side, fantasy-wise, the Evan Longoria era started this weekend in Tampa!

Napalm Gagne saved back-to-back games for us at Shea this weekend, the Tigers are 2-10, and did I mention I'm happy Dusty Baker is managing in the Big Leagues again...

:D

Go Crew and my fantasy team!

Got some PawSox tickets and some Red Sox tickets for my birthday.  Sweet!  (PawSox game of my choice, and Sox vs the O's.)

And go Gabe "The Body" Kapler!

Oh.  And Lugo still sucks btw.

Great win on the birthday gifts!

With each passing day, I'm becoming more amped up for the Crew/Sox series. By the way,  what can I anticipate from the Fenway faithful being an opposing fan sitting in the bleachers (I'll be sitting there for Saturday's game)?

Kapler has been baffling this season, and to think he's just keeping centerfield warm (from the right-side) until Mike Cameron's 25-game suspension is over. The Miller Park PA announcer even got his name wrong at the home opener, Gabe Kaplan.

One last thing, when's Theo going to trade Coco?

I also just got Monster Seat tickets to the Sox/D-backs game.  Sweet!

Who knows... if Kapler keeps it up maybe he'll keep a spot.

Dunno when they'll deal Coco.  Probably once they're 100% sure Jacoby is ready to play every day.

Probably safe to assume you can expect to be heckled some.  Probably more as the alcohol level rises.  It all depends on who you sit next to.  Some games I've seen get a little out of hand in the bleachers, but nothing like how it was back in the late 80's where it was actually dangerous to be there with little kids.  Other games could have a perfectly happy crowd out there.  You never know.

Nah, Kapler's the 1st right-handed bat off the bench when Cameron comes back. Cameron improves our defense significantly and to add more sugar to his addition, he sported a 1.091 OPS against the Cubbies last season. Braun and Fielder are off to slow starts, and we're 8-4. This has the potential of being the season I've been waiting to see my entire life to date.

I'm expecting the heckling from the bleachers, which I'm sure I'll be playing off quite-a-bit, but wasn't sure how abusive it would get. I'm just hoping I don't face any threats for just being in your city much like I do in Chicago. It gets really ugly.

Wow, you guys play the D-Backs this year, too? Be prepared to be owned by two National League teams this season!  :D

Kapler has an absolute cannon for an arm.  One of the games I was at he threw a perfect strike from the bullpen wall in right field (at Fenway) to the plate.  The guy was out by about 10 feet.  It was awesome.  I think that was his first game back from Japan.  Can't remember for sure.

He also used to ride his ten speed bike to the stadium and talk to people along the way.   Real stand up guy.  (And winner of the Red Sox cookie baking competition.)

Our interleague schedule is pretty rough.  Should make for some fun games though!

Dear St. Louis Cardinals,

You can come back  to Earth at anytime now. Today @ noon would be super.

OH CRAP!  Day games!   :o  Forgot to set my roster.

TeamRAD

I forgot about the day games, too, until I checked FSN this morning to see if the Crew would be on Thursday.

Thank you, Prince...the power of the Boca burger compels you!

The Redbirds never fail to frustrate me.

I know it's only 4 starts but Sabathia's line to date:

0-3
13.50 ERA
2.56 WHIP
14 SO
14 Walks

You're killing my team, C.C.

*shakes fists*

Hey remember that time...

That was awesome.

Are you having nightmares about him yet?  Fortunately for you he hasn't gotten to the point he was at last year when you can't even bring him in as a mop up guy.

Bob

Too bad you all did not have your fantasy draft today.   You could have picked Albert Pujols at second base.

Yes, in an extra inning game today, the Cards ran out of position players and Pujols volunteered to move to second base and played the last two innings there.

...hahaha.

4 blown saves, and we're still in April, yay!

Gagne and the bullpen hasn't given me any nightmares to date, but Ben Sheets skipping his next start has. What has happened to the guy who posted these numbers in '04...

237.0 IP
201 H
264 K
2.70 ERA
.98 WHIP

At this point, I'd be ecstatic for 150 IP.

Back to Goggles Pizano, I'll give him until the end of May before he becomes full-throttle comic fodder. I might even join in on the boos at Fenway when he makes an appearance in May.

The Red Sox are at a point now where our depth chart at catcher is Kevin Cash with a backup of Dustin Pedroia thanks to the flu that's been tearing through the area.
