not so much a joke as much as an acknowledgement

... also yes Brits/Australians have their equivalents as well, no disrespect

I believe Gammer meant that Canada has Provinces (and Territories) rather than Providences.

If we're going to have states and providences in this option, what about British Counties?  ;D

Not to be the ignorant American, but wouldn't British Counties be a little too specific? That would kind of be like me saying I'm from Orange County (NY), USA. England/Scotland/Wales would certainly work though. (Like anyone lives in Wales.  ::))

Anyway, I second a State option request. I'd like to be able to tell what other members are from my region as well.

Thats correct. I was referring to the spelling of "providences".
I was wondering how long it would take before someone else noticed that.

The country flags mod has been disabled. I just upgraded the version of our forum software (security and other bugs have been fixed - if it wasn't important I wouldn't have done it) to the gold "official release" version.

I'll work on getting the country flags to appear again.. looks like I may have to dig through the code and reimplement the changes manually. What a pain.

It also looks like we lost our underline when we add a link to a message.

And I've noticed when we 'modify' a message, it doesn't indicated that the message was edited.

And I could swear the same cat just walked by twice...

That all depends on when you edit the message. If you edit it quickly after you post it, it doesn't show the "last edited" portion.

I am under the impression that the "last edited" message will show up if you edit your post more than a minute after you post it.

Just a guess. Am I right, torgosPizza?

torgosPizza

Yeah that's how it works. Once is fine but twice will get you that message to display.

The underlined links will be back soon too. I've recently made upgrades to the system that overwrote most of the core files. Now I get to go back and re-modify them all by hand (the ones that require it, anyway).

But that will only excite him and make him angry! The only way to stop this is to kill him. Any takers?

Yeah, I don't think thats ever been suggested before.

Variety of Cells

I have a suggestion.  I feel bad asking it, because I can't think of a way to do it that wouldn't require work.  So maybe I'll phrase it as a question.  Would it be possible to provide a notification of when the next 20 questions game will be played?  An email notification would be the best.  It wouldn't have to be all fancy like the email blasts, just a simple text sentence letting us know when the topic is created.  And I'm not suggesting that we get it in advance.  At the same time the topic is created would be nice.

If it is for some reason impossible or too much work to do that, then I have another suggestion.  This one, however, feels like it will be more work, but I'll mention it anyway. The little page turns a dark blue when there are new posts in a category, which is extremely useful, but is it possible for it turn turn a different color if there are new topics in that category?  That way it will be harder for me to miss the 20 questions topic, which I've done frequently.  That may be because I'm blind and my braille computer doesn't work so well, but it's nice to know when a new topic springs up if you already know that all of the topics in a certain category don't interest you.

If either of these suggestions take more then 50 key presses or mouse clicks to implement then feel free to just ignore them.  Though I know I'm not the only one who feels left out when a 20 questions is missed.

As far as the page turning a different color - no, I'd have to add some modified code (unless there's one pre-built) that would allow this type of functionality. I'll keep a watch for it though.

Regarding Email Notification of when a new game is played - We so far have played most of (if not all) of the 20Q's games in the "Coming Soon" thread. So the easiest way for you to keep tabs on it, is to click on the Coming Soon board (from the Forum Home page) and click "Notify" - it's on the right hand side of your screen, after "Mark Read" and "New Topic".  That will notify you of any new topics posted in that board. Probably the easiest and most straightforward way to do what you're asking.
