I'll have to check that out.  A friend of mine let me borrow one of his Firesign Theatre discs awhile ago.  Can't remember what it was called, but the best part involved the white brother preaching to the Indians.  I was laughing my ass off.
And if you've never seen J-Men Forever....buy a copy somewhere immediately.

SECONDED!!!

Whoa, just reading the description I'm already convinced this could become one of my all time favorite movies.  Thanks for the tip.

There's a video clip on Firesign Theater's website.

Oh...and back on subject....

Dare I mention the Denzel Washington movie, Fallen?

Thought it was going to be a bad "X Files" rip off.   But it was a pretty good thriller.

I kinda liked "Enemy Of The State" even though all my friends thought it was cheesy.
CROW:  (Sinisterly) The Secret Government Eggo Project...
--Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie

"Jason, Chess is a game of chance."
-- My friend Shawn to my friend Jason upon being defeated at a game of Chess.

I loved Fallen.  I guess I was expecting it to be good though,

Sideswipe

The Last Samurai.  I watched this due to insomnia, thinking it was going to be another Tom Cruise crapfest, but it turned out to be a really enjoyable movie.

I was bieng threated with death by wolf raping before it was cool!.

Are you sure you didn't fall asleep and dream an enjoyable movie?

Maybe it was me, but I got the feeling sometimes, while watching, that he really wasn't that into his part.  Which is a shame, because Ken Watanabe was just incredible.  I don't really have an opinion on Tom Cruise one way or another, but I really wish he hadn't been in this movie.

The biggest problem I saw with that movie was the marketing.  They plaster Tom Cruise all over the poster, making him the center of attention, when the title is referring to Watanabe's character.  People look and say "Tom Cruise is playing a Samurai?  That's dumb!" and they don't give the movie a chance.

And if that had been what the movie was really about, then yes an obviously Irish blooded guy who calls himself a title from Feudal Japan is dumb.

And with that the red-headed man with the handle of "Ronin" backs slowly away from the discussion...

This was just Dances With Ninjas and nothing more.

Which is a shame because Watanabe is an impressive actor.  Loved him in Memoirs of a Geisha - a beautiful looking movie with something missing.

I've always wondered if the Last Samurai was referring to Watanabe or the last samurai collectively as in all of the samurai who died in the final battle.  So is the plural of a samurai still samurai?  Samurais sounds pretty stupid.  Anyone know?

I believe it is Samurax.  Also, this movie had so much potential but failed.  It wasn't Tom Cruise's fault though.

Huh, really? I haven't seen the film but that's exactly what I thought they were trying to say.

Actually they were just showing this movie on TNT or USA a few weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure the announcer's tagline was "Tonight at 8, Tom Cruise is "The Last Samurai".  If I had heard that, and never seen the movie before, I'd probably put it on my list of movies that should never see the light of day.  :D

I actually really wanted to see this movie.  Not really because of the story or anything, but from what I saw of the previews the cinematography looked absolutely gorgeous...  is it worth it?
