So, Scary Movie 4 was good but Ralph Bakshi films are only entertaining when you're high?

Now you're getting it.

Scary Movie 4 was fun and didn't take itself seriously.  Can't say that about any Bakshi film - even Wizards, which I liked.

Scary Movie 4 was largely unfunny. It's better than Epic Movie, Date Movie, etc., but THAT AIN'T SAYING MUCH. Ralph Bakshi's films are legitimate masterpieces that broke new ground in the art of animation and cinema in general. Plan 9 from Outer Space was fun and didn't take itself seriously, but IT'S NOT A GOOD MOVIE.

Ralph Bakshi was creative and varied. He used an extensive range of animation techniques to create unique films. Fritz the Cat was also the first animated film to be rated X by the MPAA and was financially successful enough that it broke ground for future generations of animators to follow in Bakshi's footsteps and create other successful animated films and TV shows for adults rather than children. You wouldn't have The Simpsons, for example, if it weren't for Bakshi.

No, it wasn't. It was ignorant and stupid. Like Zucker's other attempts at political comedy. His commercials clearly shows that he has no idea what he's talking about and that he has no idea how to create successful satire. He could learn a few things from The Boondocks.

I don't think Zucker's current political stances negate his previous work. Airplane!, Naked Gun, etc. are still a hilarious, classic comedies. I don't enjoy them any less today than I did when I first saw them. And I'm pretty sure Jerry Zucker and Jim Abrahams haven't lost their minds yet.

Sorry, Isaac, but coming from you, that statement couldn't posses any LESS of the impact you intended it to.

You mean like when Ed and Rummy go into the convenience store run by a saintly Saddam Hussein look-alike and start shooting up the place without provocation? The Boondocks has always been a mixed bag in terms on the quality of its satire, but if that sort of scene is what you look up to, you must be viewing the world from a VERY low vantage point.

No, they don't negate the work in and of itself. But I won't be able to unwatch what I just saw, and that will be in the back of my mind now when watching Airplane, and that makes me sad. I will probably enjoy it less.

This is why I try to avoid a lot of things; I can't un-hear/un-watch/un-read stuff that's unpleasant.

Well, I'm different in that regard. I don't like some of the things Charlton Heston has said/done in the last few years, but I still like Touch of Evil and The Omega Man.

I don't know what you mean. I know what I'm talking about. In Zucker's commercials, he's far too busy spewing right-wing bile to make any attempt at rational thought. I don't know how any intelligent person could find this funny. It's simplistic knee-jerk reaction without any attempt at making a valid statement.

No. I'm saying that my opinion of an actor doesn't matter in regards to their films.

Commercial or Commercial Parody?  Are we sure?

And as far as Zucker's political comedy, part of what I enjoyed in SC4 was Leslie Nielsen as Bush....sitting in a schoolroom worried about a Pet Duck in a story while the US is being attacked.

And btw, you'll notice I haven't said anything about enjoying Scary Movie 2 or 3.  The bits based on The Ring were okay...but the stuff with Tim Curry and The Haunting stuff.....ick.  And WTF was Eight Mile doing in a movie that's supposed to parodying horror films?

QuoteA campaign contributions search for Zucker, once a longtime liberal Democrat, shows his first right-leaning contribution as US$2647 to ClubforGrowth.NET, a website which hosts political videos including his initial anti-Kerry video. This donation is in line with his change to the Republican party, and vote for George W. Bush in 2004, all of which are reportedly due to his concerns over national security. Further using campaign donations as a guide, his brother Jerry apparently continues to identify as a Democrat. On October 10, 2006, the Drudge Report published a link to a political ad Zucker produced and later appeared on Youtube. The ad was intended for use by GOP organizations, but was considered too controversial by GOP Strategists. In a quote from a Drudge Report exclusive:

" In the ad, Zucker....recreates former Clinton Secretary of State Madeleine Albright's 2000 visit to North Korea. During the visit, Secretary Albright presented North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il with a basketball autographed by former NBA superstar Michael Jordan.
Actress Adele Stasilli-Fernandez, playing Albright, is shown presenting Kim Jong Il with the Michael Jordan basketball, painting the walls of Osama bin Laden's Afghanistan cave and turning a blind eye to suicide bombers. In one scene, her skirt rips as she changes the tire of a Middle Eastern dictator's limousine.

One GOP strategist said "jaws dropped" when the ad was first viewed. "Nobody could believe Zucker thought any political organization could use this ad. It makes a point, but it's way over the top."
"

On October 23, 2006, a second Zucker video, "The Taxman", was posted to YouTube. This humorous clip suggests Democrats, if elected, would raise taxes affecting all people, no matter their income level, age, or political affiliation.

On December 18, 2006, a third was posted, this time with the Iraq Study Group in his sights. This video compares study group's recommendations with that of the British appeasement of Hitler prior to World War II.

Scary Movie 3 wasn't the best, but it was miles better than Scary Movie 4. Scary Movie 2 was better than Scary Movie 3, but nowhere near as good as the first installment.

Well...and I thought my Ex and him were only friends because they're both into The Alamo.  Turns out Zucker's another asswipe who only sees things in black and white.

(Albright gives the North Korean leader a basketball and the country some help and they don't build rockets.  Bush calls them part of an "Axis of Evil" and invades a country that never attacked us and Korea starts arming themselves.  Yeah.....the Republicans will keep us safer   ::) ) ::)
