I thought there is the option of "instant." Is that not working anymore?

Even with Instant selected, audio fades out a second or two before the riff.

We have included an amplitude adjustment for the dip of DVD audio.  Using that adjustment plus putting the duckiing at immediate should resolve your issues.

Hi

I'd like to second the request for an OS X compatible player

I'll 3rd that.  My wife isn't appreciating me stealing her laptop to play the riff files.  "Use your own!"  "But I can't!  It's a Mac!" generally ensues.

Whenever my player updates itself, it would be nice to know exactly what's been added and/or improved.

Make that a 4th from me...

I think it'd be great if we could have some special way to sync up The Star Wars Holiday Special via RiffTrax DVD player. I understand that TSWHS was never put on DVD, but if we could have something special for just that MP4 file, it'd be endlessly helpful.

One suggestion I have may have been suggested already:

Can the Rifftrax player be enabled to include DVDs copied to your computer? I like to put the DVDs on my comp so I don't have to get out the DVD every time, and it would be convenient if the player alowed for file browsing, instead of just expecting a DVD to be loaded in your computer.

Now, I know that paves the way for pirates to use pirated DVDs, which I do NOT condone, but there are programs out there that allow you to store all your DVDs on your computer, and with 300GB and higher hard disks out there, it would be very convenient to allow the Rifftrax player to point to these files.

Second this request - I too archive a TON of my DVDs now on 3tb media server (sweeeeeet) and would really like to just point the player at the folder (like I do with WinDVD).

I don't think is plays into pirating, BTW. A pirate could just as easily burn their own DVD if they want these days, or make an ISO and use a virtual disk.  You can't stop their madness.

Althought any other media player will open a VIDEO_TS.IFO file,  I doubt very many people have 7gb DVDs stored on their computers. Rifftrax Player is meant to be simple, just push a button and go.

Of course, the number of people doing this NOW isn't that great but as storage becomes cheaper and people start to keep movies like they do music, it would be a nice feature to support.

Hey, it's a whish - it certainly is GREAT to have the player just the same - just want to tweak it a bit.

(btw- when Mike first started RiffTrax, I immediately wrote them saying they need a player)

I have a ton of movies in quicktime format to watch on my iPod and UMPC.  I think more and more folks are digitizing stuff for their iPods and such.

Not that I want the rifftrax player to play the files, just saying :)  I'm perfectly happy as is.

I honestly think if the player played files such as those, it would make it easier to say "Rifftrax encourages piracy of the movies they riff.  Just look, they made a player just for the pirated files. "

I also think if the rifftrax player could automatically burn a synched DVD (my dream feature) then it would also "encourage piracy."  Not good for a company with a staunch stance on piracy, I say.

I would LOVE to have this feature - you know it's not illegal to make copies of movies you own as backup - to be able to burn a DVD with the Rifftrax layered in (like subtitles or director's commentaries) would be freaking awesome.

RoninFox

That's possible as it is, it's just not as easy and turn on the player and click a button.  With a little time and effort you can get those discs though.  It does get easier if you keep at it.

Problem is, as it is, audio commentaries are not "layered in" - they are a completely separate soundtrack. So in essence we would have to re-render the audio to be merged with our commentary, and at this point, that's not legal.

bratpop

I don't think it would be illegal for the player to rip the DVD audio, merge it with the Rifftrax, and then... something. It requires that the person owns the DVD. Though I can't imagine that would be a fun and practical program. I don't think it's clear at this point what the hell is legal and what isn't. The MAN can't make up his mind. Should CDs be rippable a certain number of times, or should the RIAA just sue you? Let's ask the magic 8 ball.
