Bad movies that just needed a little more work.

I watched "Firefox" recently and decided it was a bad movie but one that really could have been better with a little more work. I was shocked to see John Dykstra's name in the the creds as the sfx guy, because he did awesome work in the original battlestar galactica series, but the fx in firefox looked like shit.

Seriously, I think with some real work firefox could have been a good movie instead of a flop. What bad movies do you think just needed some more effort?

I think your been a little unfair it wasn't a bad movie. You can't exactly have top gun quality aerial shots with an airplane that doesn't exist. I imagine it's a hell of a lot easier to do outer space effects work than aerial footage.

Doctor Who?

Superman 4 has to be the ultimate example of this.

I mean CR and the rest had some good ideas. Take Superman serisuly again, show why he can't just solve all the world's problems.
They just didn't get the time they needed to punch up the script and they only got a franction of the budget of the first three movies.

Superman 4 upsets me more then Batman and Robin becouse it had good ideas, the filmmakers just were not allowed to use them.

The Star Wars prequels. If Lucas had spent more time on the script, or had script doctors, we wouldn't have lines like "I love the water" and "I am haunted by the kiss you should never have given me, hoping it won't become a scar"
plus, there would be this thing called consistency!
GGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I curse you lucas!

Next could have been good. But they stuck that dumbass ending in.

Phantom of Krankor

Alright, knowing these boards I'm absolutly going to get trounced for this but... I don't think the Star Wars prequals are that bad. If they simply had hired better actors for Anakin, made Jar Jar less dopey and more likeable, and made the love dialogue less cheezy they probably would've worked alot better.

I am Ambassador Phantom, from the planet Krankor! I am rapidly approaching your planet... in the warship, which you have just seen. I will arrive tomorrow night at precisely eight o'clock. At that time I shall make my wishes known to you. You will obey them... or die! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

Kzinistzerg

You're right about that.

But some bloody consistency could have helped!

Tripe

I think this can all be summed up by the same thing that's true for many a Lucas product: It'd be better with a competent writer doing the script and letting George be "The Ideas Man"

A good Anakin or two would have helped. People keep joking about Hayden getting the role after giving Lucas a blow job, but that's ridiculous. To get into a role like that with talent that non- existent, he had to have spent a month being a love slave to several different higher demons each.

I think you are all being far too optimistic. I think there is so much wrong with the prequels that they would be better off not existing at all.

Well, maybe, but dammit the plane kept changing color from silver to flat black, and don't say it was camouflage! Also the "missiles" looked like photon torpedoes!

You know, I read the savage review of Superman4 on the agony booth and agreed with it, but then again you raise a good point with your ref to making a movie showing why supes can't just solve all the world's problems for everyone.

It still sucked and in unforgivable ways that are beyond number, but by God you may have just found it's sole redeeming trait, asides from Gene Hackman's performance. it does address the issue of why superheroes can't jsut make everything perfect.

Any Superman fans should really watch the new Superman 4 DvD with the comintary tracks.

When you hear about all the ways that movie was messed up you will have a good cry.

Also it did have decent attemped at a comedy scene,If the Clark and superman on a date at the same time scene had been edited a little better it could have been funny.

I have to agree with you, actually. Had they followed the formulas of the original movies, and had Lucas failed to aquire an erection from using vast amounts of CGI technology, the prequels could have been decent. I actually don't mind II and III all that much, but Phantom Menace is unforgivable.

I wish that Lucas had skipped over Anakin's childhood entirely and picked the prequels up around Attack of the Clones. Maybe a slight rewrite to fill in the gaps for the viewers, but made Clones I, Revenge of the Sith II, and the third part an awesome movie about the rise of the Rebellion and Darth Vader hunting the galaxy to kill the Jedi stragglers (which, I've heard, is kind of where the upcoming TV series is going). Maybe show a certian teenaged street urchin named Han wandering around in cameo just to make the fanboys happy.
