Not really, I kind of like it. Now and then it's a conversation starter. "Oh, the Norse Viking way of spelling it! Are you descended from .. ?" etc etc.

Strangely this has never come up in a conversation before...  I am totally going to use that as a pick up line.

do you find it irritating having a unique spelling to a fairly common name?

Not really, I kind of like it. Now and then it's a conversation starter. "Oh, the Norse Viking way of spelling it! Are you descended from .. ?" etc etc. The only time it can be irritating is when, for example, the girl at Starbucks writes my name on the cup with a "C" or when the person behind the counter at Rubio's spells it "Erick" just to make sure she got one of the two spelling conventions at once.

I think it'd be more of a pain if my name was spelled "Aryk" or something wacky.

Imagine how much it annoys to have the name steven but have someone constantly spell it stephen depsite near constant subtle and not so subtle reminders.

And welcome
