Selling rifftrax on iTunes, experimenting with a lower price or a subscription

Hi Guys,

We loved MST3K and looks like we're going to love Rifftrax as well.  My wife and I viewed several of your samples and we were cracking up.

I was wondering if you've experimented with a lower price.  (I read the earlier thread about price for older movies.)  I would like to buy many of your riffs to play with DVDs I already have, and it adds up.  I would probably buy 20 if they were 99 cents each.  Maybe try selling one of them, not an oldie, but something big and modern like The Matrix, for a buck and see what happens.

There are numerous examples where people have cut the price in half for digital downloads and sold well more than twice as many as a result.

Also, you know, I'm just a little leery of paying through yet another payment system, etc.  I'm already up on iTunes and I would like to be able to buy Rifftrax through the iTunes store like I buy music and the occasional show.  It's painless, and easy to find and play as well.

Just a thought, I'll buy some in any case, and... good luck.

Conor

Hello, and welcome aboard.  Glad you've just discovered us, through whatever channel it may have been.

We've discussed itunes before on the forum.  As it stands now, it is not something we're able to do.  We looked into it initially and itunes did not want to sell something as "unclassifiable" as RiffTrax.

As far as our payment system, you have the option of using Paypal and any major credit card, so it is no different than ebay, amazon or itunes for that matter, and there should be no reason to be leery of it.

Pricing wise, we don't currently have plans to adjust the scale of pricing, but we do plan on offering more muti sets such as the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy that offer a slight savings over buying them individually.

Hope that answers some questions, and again, welcome!

I know this is a way old thread, but I think the price is right on. With the amount of work I imagine the guys put into these commentaries I think the price is     a bargain.

I have spent almost 100 dollars on these, and for the amount of hours of riffing that is, I'd say that is pretty dang good.

Yeah, I agree.  The OP was just being stingy.  I barely even noticed the $1 price increase for when the extra riffers (Bill and Kevin) came aboard.  Of course we'd ALL like everything we want to be a dollar, and if they were a dollar we'd buy like 20 of 'em!, but sometimes selling things for a dollar just isn't cost effective for a business.  Especially since all of us suckers are paying $3.99 easy.

Indeed.  If you were to spend $25.00 per month on a Netflix subscription and a couple Rifftrax you'd eventually catch up (That's assuming you want to see them all).  If you can't afford that then Rifftrax obviously isn't for you.  But if you're an MST3K fan the price is well worth the cost.

And it's not like you have a limited time to buy any of the Rifftrax.  If you can't afford them now then save your pennies and buy them later.

Also, I know that Rifftrax accepts credit/debit cards as well as PayPal for payment.  I use iTunes and I know you have to give them your credit card info to store in their system before you can buy anything.  So, if you're buying iTunes you can buy Rifftrax.

So, if there are any of you out there who have the same stance as the OP I implore you to join us and enjoy the awesomeness that is Rifftrax, won't you?
