The reason it takes so long is because the manufacturing system consists of a single lite-on 20x dvd burner and one part-time employee.

The part-time employee is the company owner's 80 year old grandmother, who still has problems with "right click." You can imagine how she does with DVD burning software... :)

Don't even mention the scroll wheel with center click, that could blow up the computer ya know...

They mention higher than expected demand, I guess the "expected" demand was what?  10?  20?  They probably also need more ink for their disk printer...

You joke but I spent half an hour the other day explaining to one of the VPs in our company how to drag a file from one window to the other. She was amazed that you could do that.

I think you mean they need a new Sharpie.

Sharpie?!  Woah there, big spender!  We're dealing with a blue-ink ballpoint they stole from a local bank.

C'mon now, be fair.

They GIVE those pens out at the lobby nowadays. No need to STEAL them.

Wait till you show her the right click, it'll blow her mind

They liked the ones with the beaded chain better, they yanked it off so most of the beads were on their end.

Yeah, I downloaded it, and printed out every frame on a t-shirt. And then I married it.

Scaffolding is SO last year.

You don't know what you're talking about.  Do some research.

Here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joel_Hodgson
Quite educational, and thought provoking.I love this in particular:

From the Wiki:
QuoteHe performed several minutes of his act on a November 12, 1983, airing of Saturday Night Live, hosted by Teri Garr. An infamous prop during the performance was a time bomb. During the act, Hodgson would announce that he only had three minutes to perform. He would then reveal the time bomb, and proclaim, "We ALL have three minutes." The prop department thought they could make a better time bomb than the one Hodgson had, which was used in the show. They gave Hodgson the prop as a gift, but he decided that he liked his own bomb better, and left the NBC prop in his hotel room. When he arrived in Minneapolis, he was greeted by the FBI. It appears that a cleaning lady found the bomb, thought it was real, and three floors had to be evacuated. The next day, New York Daily News headline announced that "SNL Comedian Bombs In New York".

Also, I read the article on Jim Mallon as well

Oh, and here's a link to the 'Onion AV Club' interview in '99:
http://www.avclub.com/content/node/23008

The fact of the matter is, back when Joel left the show, I assumed that there was some bad blood between he and Mike.  I didn't have any proof, and now that I know differently, I feel kind of foolish.

From the Wiki:
QuoteHodgson reportedly chose MST3K head writer Michael J. Nelson to be his replacement as host because he felt that Nelson was a natural leader, a gifted comedian (as well as a musician, handling most of the show's musical numbers), and, additionally, he thought Nelson looked good standing next to the show's puppets.

Once again, this just speculation, but I think that everyone over at CT was just excited to get 'back in the game' once they saw how much success Mike Kevin, and Bill were having, and by success, I mean fun.  Probably Mike had an advantage in regards to having Legend Films resources at his disposal. Not just actual facilities and equipment, but perhaps insight into the best way to proceed with a both the overall format, as well as the means of distribution.  It has been made readily apparent that Joel is more at ease behind the camera than in front of it.  Moreover they are artists, and sometimes (even if a bit reluctant, such as with Joel) performers.

From The AV Club Interview:
QuoteI think what made the show work for me was that I really loved it. I really liked the audience, and the whole process was... I was really happy doing it, and I realized that I'd turn into Jerry Lewis or something if I started to kind of hate it. And that was starting to happen, just because of these conflicts I was having internally with Jim. I had a pretty good deal set up, so if I left, it would be okay. If Jim wanted to run the show his way and it succeeded, I would make money on it. And if it didn't work, that would be okay, too. It was just kind of the way to do it.

So I want to personally doff my chapeau to the members of Team CT and RT.  Even with all that has happened you were a class act, each and every one of you.  You wouldn't be the first to become bitter, and bitch, whine and moan about how someone did you wrong, but you didn't.  You do what you do because you love it, and if it makes people laugh and feel better about them selves, well that's fine too.  Fame and fortune are nothing to sneeze at, mind you, but it's not he end all be all...

As for Jim, I'm torn...

....

Is he more of a money-grubbing talentless hack butt-mime, or a petulant greedy rump-beret?

mrbasehart

The "internal conflicts with Jim" struck me as the most interesting quote.  Does anyone notice a creative change (apart from the host) in the series between Mike and Joel? Any evidence that Jim changed the way the show was run?

And with something as little and goofy as that theme song post, i'm excited all over again.

Yeah, that's a pretty funny little post there, I even quite liked the first version of the theme tune.   :)

bettertomorrowamy

Yeah, that's a great way to write a song.  Good use for Garageband.

I've listened to Josh's demo many times now and it cracks me up every time.

You know what gets me, did Mike not used to write all the themes and jingles?  I'm beginning to believe that was a lie (not really).

Why does the Rifftrax theme still suck compared to almost everything else? (yes, this is the CT thread - hijack!). I had always assumed "team rifftrax" was the most musically talented.  I guess what they say about assumptions is correct.

Anyone read this article?

I can't get it where I am.  The google info seems to be negative.

What do you mean that you can't get it? Are you talking about the article? Well, other than just talking about CT the best part is this quote:

Quoth Hodgson, "We've licensed our first title and are working at a brisk pace to get it delivered in time for Christmas! So you can give it as a gift to one of your sly friends or a loved one. Or you yourself can watch over the holidays to fight off that strange malaise that always seems to happen."

That worked out well, didn't it?!  ;)

So it's obviously and old and pointless article.  And yeah, that's what I meant.  I'll remember not to read it later ;) I just saw "Rifftrax Killer" and figured it'd be interesting.

Oh, I dunno. The old rifftrax music wasn't without its charms. Maybe it just flipped a switch in my brain like bell ringing did to Pavlov's dogs. The new theme, however, is beyond redemption. But, staying on topic, I think that the CT theme is great.  Even the rough draft would have worked quite well.

I didn't like the old one, but you are right. I think the new one is worse.  We are probably in the minority though.  Mike needs to write something clever.  I know he can do it.

As for staying on topic, uh...Cinematic Titanic is great, right?
