Marriage is an antiquated custom left over from a time when women were property and families exchanged dowries.

It should be redefined as a contract. With expire dates.

Well I need this setup cause I've been ready to terminate my wife's contract >:(

Marriage can be a wonderful thing, but it should come organically. Not because of societal or peer pressure. Just like a romantic relationship should come organically through regular interactions with the person with whom you want romance to happen.

I tried it backwards before. Going into a relationship with the mentality, "You seem like you'd make a good wife." Didn't end well. Relationships are like automatic doors. You just let them open and walk through. If you try to pull or push them, you get this awful grindy noise that can't be good for them.

I agree with you there. For me any more it seems like everyone gets married really early. It worries me.

Trying to avoid Twitter because I know I won't be able to resist making fun of transphobic assholes regarding Kaitlyn Jenner and it'll just make me angry in the long run

Oh, did she finally get her name changed? Cool :) I told my mom to watch the interview that happened a while back because if was really good at highlighting some stuff. I'm still not convinced she's the best person to be the spokesperson for transpeople at large, but at least people are starting to make a move to understanding.

We get questions all the time about "when you are going to have your first kid?"

next time, stare at them and tell them that you castrated yourself just to avoid children. see how long you can maintain eye contact. :D

Don't use the expression "Sleeping like a baby," if you've never had one.
I think they don't sleep as well as the expression implies.   ;D

I actually have been sleeping like a baby lately. Up every couple of hours, crying. Yup, like a baby.

Hey man! Glad to see you back. I was going through and cleaning up and saw lots of our exchanges and wondered whether you'd come back on.
Thanks Imrahil. I missed you too.  :)

I would like to have one child some day. I think ultimately my reasoning is kind of selfish though. I want my child to be a scientist, a doctor, an astronaut, somebody who'll change the world for tomorrow. I've never been proud of how my life has turned out thus far. If I can't be proud of myself, I can at least be proud of raising a child to become someone great. That's also kind of unrealistic and putting quite a burden on a child that does not exist yet.

Then... I'm really glad I came back to the forum because I lost some friends today. I still don't completely understand how all this happened. I didn't want to play the blame game or jump to conclusions. I know one thing for sure-- If you've got a problem with anything I say, you need to come and talk to me about it. It doesn't matter if you think I've hurt your feelings. If I did something offensive, tell me it was so that I know to never to do it again. Friends for me are in short supply so it's always important to settle things and settle them quickly so there isn't this buildup of animosity on either side. Sigh... this has been a sad day.

No, but maybe this version:

Sleeping like a parent while their child is at daycare.
FINE

Talked to the 14 year old Goddaughter in Mexico and she's getting into music I rocked out to back in the day..
Nirvana, Guns and Roses, Pink Floyd, etc. even Metallica, and now she wants me to introduce her to more of that kind of music :o She's even requesting rock shirts to wear cause they don't have them in Mexico.
I just think that's really neat that some of the younger generation finds my genre of music cool 8)
