I own some dvd's that most people would think are embarrassing but I love them and I dont care what people think.
The Scorpion King
The Rundown (I LOVE this movie)
Assault on Precint 13th (John Carpenter is my hero)
Sahara (I love the Dirk Diggler books and since this is the best adaption of a CC novel to date I had to own it)

I dunno I am sure there are more  but thats all i can think of for now.

Dirk Diggler?

Assault is very popular (amoung movie nerds) outside the US.  I'm a Carpenter fan too.

I love Assualt on Precinct 13.  I even have a John Carpenter section of DVDs.  Big Trouble in Little China and Escape From New York are easily my favorite movies ever.

But I did realize that my finacee owns the Di Caprio Romeo and Juliet, I'm not so sure I feel as much embarassed, as I do irritated at that one sitting on my shelf.

Big Trouble in Little China is a great film, because it an hilarious parody of action movies too.  And it's got Kim Catrall in it!

I love Big Trouble.  Carpenter's best film by far.  And the commentary with Carpenter and Kurt Russell is one of the most fun commentary's I've listened to.

And to be a complete DVD geek, it has a beautiful box.  All the embossed chinese characters on the black background.  Nice!

Cibernético II

speaking of movies starring wrestlers

yesterday I watched Abraxas: Gaurdian of the Universe for the first time. I've had the DVD for a while, it was in a cheap 4 DVD set called "Future ShocK" (also includes: Slipstream, Laser Mission, and Creature).

God I so wish the MST3k crew had done this one. It would have been PERFECT. Released in 1991, it stars Jesse "The Body" Ventura (sans hair piece) as an intergalactic police officer of sorts. Even though the title character and villain come from outer space and the title contains the word Universe, the entire movie takes place in Minnesota. The villian is a huge Stongman Competitor looking guy with a thick Scandanavian accent. The female lead is a not too smart blonde, who's parents disown her for having a child and not knowing who the father is. So, it's basically stocked with the kind of people you could easily find in Minnesota.
I really do like pie.

hahaha Dirk Diggller......hahaha I meant Dirk Pitt

I'm already seeing the fanfic in my head:
Raise The Titanic
A Steamy New Dirk Diggler Adventure

It would outsell the DaVinci Code.

I dunno about embarassed, but probably my biggest buyer's remorse is for "Marnie," the Freudian gobbledygook-filled Hitchcock snoozefest starring Tippi Hedren. What can I say? I went through a Hitchcock period, plus it costars Sean Connery. I will watch anything with the Connery in it. Even Highlander 2.

Somebody gave me a copy of "The Real Cancun" which I took out of the player after 10 minutes. It's the only DVD I still have listed with Peerflix and I've missed out on getting rid of it three times so far, because someone else with a copy of it answered their e-mail before me.

Dirty Dancing.

The... Ultimate Edition.

I own this one also.  I picked it up for dirt cheap thinking that they might do a Rifftrax for it someday.  It is still sealed.  That would lead to another question, how many DVD's do you own that are still sealed and unwatched (or opened but never viewed)??  Too many to count for me.  Lots of times I'll grab DVD's on sale and then never get around to watching them.

Mine would have to be "Cursed" that TERRIBLE werewolf movie that Wes Craven phoned in a year or two ago.  What's even more embarassing is that I saw the movie in the theaters, hated it, but then when I had another DVD to buy to fufill my club comittment, I saw they had an "unrated" version (damn cheap, BTW - should have tipped me off), and deluded myself into believing the "Hey, maybe the studio screwed over Craven's vision for the film, and now that he can give us his own cut of the film, it might actually be good" line of BS.

Guess what?  The unrated version is EVEN WORSE.  The same bad dialogue, bad CGI, bad acting, and bad script now had a few more poorly done gore effects thrown in.  Yippee.

It's not mine, per se, but I'm still embarassed that my roommate bought the Pamela Anderson Roast and it's rubbing up against my DVDs, infecting them with Andy Dick spores.
