I agree with you. But I still think there's a very strong anti-woman message across the board.

But the female Jedi are bound by the same rules.  If you're looking for an anti-woman message, notice  how Padme is dressed in Ep II.

Must be a lot of jacking off in the Jedi Temple.

Sure, and how Carrie Fisher was dressed in Jedi. The gold bikini. Oh lord, the gold bikini. And I agree with you, presenting heroins as sexy doesn't equal pro woman, if anything I'd say it objectifies women. And as the guys pointed out, look how Natalie Portmans "strong self sufficient senator" portrayal fell sway to the "domesticated, needy and emotional girl" Not forgetting of course that she has the worst taste in men in the galaxy.

Or 69.  That would have been endlessly awesome.

I also also learned that some women can be pregnant with twins and look like she's barely bulging!

My sister was great with her second baby when this movie came out, and she laughed and laughed at the concept that Padme could trot down that landing ramp while supposedly so far along with twins.

And Luke and Leia?  Gee, it's always nice to give birth to two healthy five-month-olds.

Finally! Someone else who understands why I complain about this!
;)

The Force aged them. Also, the Force allowed Leia to remember her mother when she was a young girl as she mentioned in the real Star Wars movies.

I believe the retcon for this is Jimmy Smits's wife died when she was young.

My girlfriend was pissed when she found this was the cop out (presumably from this thread).  She said it best, '..and Luke specifically asked her do your mother...no your real mother?  And apparently Leia was so fucking stupid that she still didn't get the point.'

The answer to that mystery is...

MIDICHOLRIANS

See?  It all makes sense now.

I've seen the light.  And by the light I mean the totally unnessecary rehash of the setting suns on Tatooine.

I've learned that the only things separating Troll 2 and the Star Wars prequels are money, better actors, a better director, and a more enjoyable film.  Sadly I don't think the Troll 2 guys will complete the trilogy.

Also, Ewan MacGregor would rather DANCE!

I'm not certain it definitely was the retcon, and a silly Midichlorian spiel I wouldn't rule out either. Though, either really just leaves me really, really infuriated.

Of course, they've taken the Star Trek route to making things make sense.  If you can't figure out something, invent a silly sciency word and move on.

Finally something Trekkies and Star Wars Geeks can come together on.

I learned that when you watch freedom die in the house of senate, it's better just to tear up and be disgusted instead of...you know...use your political power to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!

I also learned that Luke and Leia had the ability to suddenly inflate the moment they're born to full term twins.

It's all the midichlorians- they puff babies up like that.

I learned that when your orphaned baby nephew is dropped off, it's ok to find the horizon more interesting than the baby.

I learned that when you are sent to kill someone evil, it's fine if you walk away before the job is finished.

I learned that nothing is more important than someone who holds you by the lake on Naboo, not even your newborn twins.

I learned that in the Star Wars galaxy, an important female politician (who everyone believes is not married) can be pregnant and no one
will ask any questions.

I learned that, when hiding a baby to protect his life from his evil father, the safest, most secret place is always with relatives of the evil father (oh, and give him the same last name as evil dad...and put him on dad's home planet...that'll help too).

I learned that Obi-Wan and Yoda liked Leia best (see above).
